Publishers Weekly
Wright’s debut contemporary relies on emotional drama that’s diluted by pedestrian prose. When Sydney Williams discovers that her fiancé, Caden “Den” Smith, has been sleeping with another woman, the wedding is called off. Den’s brother, Morgan, had long felt “his life wouldn’t be complete” without Syd, but he has no intention of starting something they “may never be able to come back from,” because of the potential for complications in their close circle of friends and family. As Morgan and Syd erratically veer from angry screaming fights to tearing off each other’s clothes, the two find there’s no point in fighting their attraction, even as they fear revealing the truth. Given that Den is almost cartoonishly wrong for Syd and Morgan is transparently right for her, the lovers’ refusal to tell their friends the truth about their relationship, or admit it to themselves even as they become more deeply involved, soon becomes tiresome. Meet the Author

Born and raised in Southeast Michigan near Ann Arbor, Elle learned the importance of reading from her mother. It was also her mother who, later on in her life, gave Elle her first romance novel: Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. From that moment on, Elle became a fan of Ms. Jenkins for life and a lover of all things romance. An old journal she wrote back in college became her first book (which she still wants to publish one day).

Not for me. I like stories with a strong female lead character. To me, Sydney was annoying. All through the book she was either crying, whining or on a guilt trip. Her friends were more interesting, I wish they had been in the story more. I gave it 2 stars instead of just one because I did like Morgan. But why he stayed with Sydney after the way she treated him, I don't know. And I do agree with another review that said they have way too much alcohol. I'm not against a few beers, but they were always either drinking or drunk.

This is my first read by this author. Great story line, mixed with romance and suspense. I read the book in one day because I couldn't pick it down. This is a page turner. I am buying the other story lines as well....great job!

In my reviews I don't tell the story, that's what the blurb is for and I don't give spoilers. So... Ms. Wright has written a contemporary romance full of drama, emotion and scandal. Family loyalties are challenged as are friendships. The hero and heroine, Morgan and Sydney are well-written and very relatable. Many of us have had "friends" that may have turned into more, or at least we wish they had. They are determined, yet flawed and may not always make the best choices, but that's what love does, isn't it? The secondary characters (family and friends) are solid, lively with their own personalities and concerns, who bring added conflict and humor to the story. This was a fast read for me as I rooted for Morgan and Sydney and was anxious to see how their dilemma was resolved. The writing was solid and the sex was spicy - just how I like it. A great beach read!

MY REVIEW OF "THE FORBIDDEN MAN" by Elle Wright! Listen people! If you want a juicy, awesome, well-written romance novel, this is your book. The characters are well-developed. You love them. You hate them. Some you even love to hate. Either way this is a romantic ride filled with forbidden love, forbidden desires and it explodes into an altogether hot mess that will keep you frantically turning the pages. Oooooooh I enjoyed this book! Sydney, has had all she can take of her fiancé, Den's cheating ways. After receiving shocking news from an unattractive source, Syd has some decisions to make. Meanwhile, there's nothing like the comfort of a man who looks beyond your faults and sees your needs. The problem is--this particular guy, Morgan, however delicious he seemed, was the forbidden man. This very interesting story takes you on the uphill, downhill journey with Syd, the men in her life and their friends. Elle Wright peaked my interest with the one-page teaser in the front. She grabbed my attention in the first couple of pages and kept it throughout its entirety. Now that's how you do it! Never a dull moment! FIVE STARS!
