A DEMON hires the assassin to kill an Angel from a rival gang. It’s not the first time the hit man’s had an employer from Hell, so he checks the fine print before setting bloody quill to parchment. Just one stipulation: he’ll have to make it quick if he wants to avoid the End of the World.
The Forsaken returns us to the World of Change fifty years after the events in When Graveyards Yawn.

Although this is the second in a trilogy, it's actually a stand-alone novel. What ties them together is the state of the world and the state of mankind. Like the first novel, it's very long and dark. I think this one is quite a bit darker and not at all suitable for younger readers; violence and sex are presented very graphically while the portrayal of man's depravity can be soul-sickening. Mankind is portrayed both heroically and as self-serving while literal angels and demons are are introduced as very viable characters. A self-published novel, this could have definitely used an editor but it wasn't so bad that it took away from the story. I've already ordered the third book and am looking forward to it as well as to other novels by the same author.
