Children's Literature
I always thought there were more than four oceans, but according to this "Rookie Read-About Geography" there are only the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and Arctic Oceans. The Pacific is the largest which, unfortunately, does not really come across clearly in the map used to show the continents and oceans. Kids will learn a little about the plants and animals that live in these oceans ranging from the tiniest plankton to the very large blue whale. Each spread is illustrated with a photograph that supports the text. The book ends with an open-ended question and a picture glossary entitled "Words You Know." There is also an index and a brief blurb about the author. 2005, Children's Press/Scholastic, Ages 5 to 7.
