The Furies is the best of the eight-book bicentennial series. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as I did the entire series. The characters in The Furies are more lively and three-dimensional than in other Jakes novels. Amanda Kent's personality, struggles and unanticipated yet heartbreaking success make her my favorite of the characters in the series.

I am a John Jakes fan and I have read more books by him than anyone else. The Furies is one of the best novels in the Kent Family Chronicles. The characters are interesting and the plot is well developed. Even though Jakes places his characters at events that they were never at, he does his research so that even the most unbelievable situation could have happened. This was a very quick read for me, and I look forward to other Jakes novels.

I began with the Warriors and was hooked, went back to # 1 The Bastard and continuing with the 8 book series. It just keep getting better...

I read these books years ago while in college. My daughter was named after Amanda Kent--Need I say more!
