    My favorite Sherlock Holmes pastiche

Two things to know before you purchase. 1. there are no links to the footnotes. You need to bookmark the page for the footnotes. 2. The story is written in third person. Hanna (the author) wrote a fantastic story. I will not give away the ending, but it is not what you would expect.

Okay book but a serious disappointment compared to other stories

Okay book but a serious disappointment compared to other stories written where Holme's and Watson take on the white chapel killings. Dust and Shadow had a much more satisfying ending and achieved it in fewer pages. Still its not poorly written quite the opposite which attributed in my disappointment more than anything in this story.

This book is so hard to really figure out the right amount of stars for it. To me the story of Jack the Ripper vs Sherlock Holmes is always a dream to figure out who is the greatest character of that age, real or fictional. This book provides details and you see Sherlock in his great form with his detective work. The problem you tend to always get with Jack the Ripper style books is people finding who he is and it doesn't change with this. As great as the book was the ending and figuring out who the Ripper was felt safe and anticlimactic. You see Sherlock do so much just to find him and not really be able to do anything about it. I would love to see just once Jack get away or someone just have a better concept of who he was. It is a really good read, but just don't expect to feel completely fulfilled.

    Pretty Good

This was my first Sherlock Holmes novel not written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and as a nerd for the originals I wasn't sure what to expect. The first 3/4 of the book had me ridiculously engaged, but near the end it started to lose me. I guess I expected the ending, but was really hoping for something else. Overall the story was good and I'd recommend it. The story is told from a third person point of view instead of Watson's, which happens to be slightly more revealing. I liked it :)

Good story, well written, but unsatisfying ending

I liked the author's style of writing but because he wrote it in the third person instead of from Watson's point of view, it never seems like it is truly a Sherlock Holmes story. Also there are two times in the book wherr he says Watson's manuscript are missing pages. These come at events in the story where a confrontation would have occured. These confrontations would have been exciting and would have revealed more of the mystery. Finally, the ending is very disappointing. I won't say why it is disappointing but let's just say it lacks what every good mystery needs for a good ending.
