Overview

With the regiment come to camp in Meryton, many young ladies are pleased. Not all share their enthusiasm. Among them, Mr. Carver, who removes his family from Meryton's savage society. He blames, not on the militia officers, but the Bennet family. The flirtations and boisterous ways of the youngest sisters are too much to be borne. Not even Jane's renowned beauty and charm can make up for them.

Elizabeth denies the allegations at first, but rapidly uncovers the shocking truth. The Carvers are not the only family to cut the Bennets from their acquaintance. Their reputations materially damaged, the family borders on social ruin.

The news is too much for Mrs. Bennet who collapses from the shock. So, Elizabeth and her sisters must manage the estate until she recovers, a task for which none of them is prepared.

Warned by Mr. Pierce, the local curate, that several of the officers have unsavory designs on the local girls, Elizabeth must find a way to honor her father, rein in her sister and salvage the family's reputation, all in the most ladylike way possible.

Given Good Principles, Vol 2. Sequel to Darcy's Decision.

Editorial Reviews

Just as Excellent as Volume 1!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
...What a refreshing and splendidly unique series this is!! I am exceedingly enjoying the inventive twists, new characters, and changed circumstances Maria Grace has created through this series. While some Pride and Prejudice variations may throw one or two wrenches into the plot, Ms. Grace has effectively thrown half a dozen, and you know what? They all seem to work. I am all eagerness to see how everything will pan out in Vol. 3.

The Future Mrs. Darcy follows the Bennets, particularly Elizabeth, before Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, and Mr. Wickham enter the picture.  It’s short, well written, and a good way to spend an afternoon... I can’t wait to see wait to see where she goes with this series, and I highly recommend it for readers like me for whom these Austenesque novels are a guilty pleasure.

Maria Grace's 'The Future Mrs. Darcy'...introduces the readers to the Bennet family in a way that clarifies the character and foibles of the family. Grace has a knack for recreating Austen's world and breathing life into her characters... I found myself reading long into the night to see how the Bennet family would deal the recalcitrant Lydia.Grace remains true to Austen's creations. I found it quite fun to see favorite characters in a different story. I heartily recommend it to Austen fans.

Meet the Author

Though Maria Grace has been writing fiction since she was ten years old, those early efforts happily reside in a file drawer and are unlikely to see the light of day again, for which many are grateful.

She has one husband, two graduate degrees and two black belts, three sons, four undergraduate majors, five nieces, six cats, seven Regency-era fiction projects and notes for eight more writing projects in progress. To round out the list, she cooks for nine in order to accommodate the growing boys and usually makes ten meals at a time so she only cooks twice a month.

Vol 2 of Maria Grace's Given Good Principles series. A prequel

Vol 2 of Maria Grace's Given Good Principles series.
A prequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

A single evening spent reading these fascinating 194 pages
provided great background on the maturing of Elizabeth Bennet through familial and societal tests and struggles. Perfect development for the woman she will need to be in order to fill the role we're anticipating will be developed in the newly released Vol 3,
    'All The Appearance of Good'!

I enjoyed the addition of intrigue, country society, and unique insights into the characters of the Bennets - parents and siblings.

    As Pride and Prejudice prequels,
this series of books is a perfect addition to the Pride and Prejudice
    Bicentenary Challenge for 2013
and a pleasure to have spent my hours in company
    with some favoured story characters!
