Overview

The third book in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Wedding Pact series.

Libby St. Clair believes in fate--so much so, she's willing to pin everything on a curse a fortune teller placed on her and her two best friends when they were kids. The curse, that each of them will marry before thirty, have a disaster of a wedding, and end up with a man other than her original fiancé, has come to fruition for both of her friends, who are now deliriously happy. But Libby's attempt to quick-start the curse by proposing to her wrong-for-her boyfriend ends in a wild dash from the altar. She's rescued by her friend Noah, the only person who understands her impulsive decisions--because he's the same way.

Having spent most of his adulthood fleeing responsibility and commitment, Noah McMillan is finally ready to grow up. Of course, figuring out how is still a work in progress. When he realizes he's in love with Libby, he flies to Kansas City to put a stop to her wedding. But Libby's already pulled a runaway bride. Eager to cheer her up and prove that he can be the man she deserves, he takes her on a madcap car trip that will bring them all the way to the City of Sin.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Funny, sassy, smart, entertaining and heartwarming. Four words that sum up the joy that is The Gambler by one my all-time favorite authors, Denise Grover Swank. The third and final book of The Wedding Pact series, we learn that story surrounding free-spirited Libby St. Clair and commitment-phobe Noah McMillan. If you have not read book 1 (The Substitute) and book 2 (The Player), you need to in order to avoid any spoilers from the beginning of the series and to learn the story behind the wedding pact and the curse. Libby is the one who believes the most in the pact that she made with Megan and Blair when they were kids and the curse that was put upon them by a fortune teller soon after. After seeing her friends find their happily- ever-afters, Libby puts a plan in motion to ensure her true love will arrive. Noah hides behind his lack of responsibility and maturity a genius mind and tender heart. When Noah realizes his love for Libby, he rushes to stop the wedding that should never be. He also needs to step up to the plate and help save the family business. All this leads to a hilarious and soul-searching road trip for Libby and Noah. Between jaw dropping bathroom breaks, unusual sightseeing spots and the arrival of Gram and Nana Ruby in Vegas, the laughs and tears are overflowing. What I was looking forward to the most from this book was learning the back stories of Libby and Noah. When you meet them in The Substitute, you know they are characters rich in history and passion. I was thrilled when the book surpassed my expectations. Denise has a true skill for writing characters that are real in not only their good qualities but also in their flaws. Libby, Noah and all the supporting characters feel believable and relatable. It makes you root for your favorites, celebrate their successes and want to cry at their despair. Denise also makes you want to reach into the book and hurt anyone who stands in the way of love and happiness. I am a huge critic of how a series ends and a lot of times I am left disappointed and unfulfilled. The ending of The Gambler is one of the best I have ever read. It brings the main characters of the three books together in a way that satisfies even this critical reader. The Gambler has become an instant favorite and The Wedding Pact series is one I will read and recommend over and over again.

I loved the development of the primary characters as they worked through their serious issues, while laughing at their crazy antics. I especially loved the quirky grandmothers. This was the perfect ending to the wedding pact trilogy. Definitely recommend!

RATING 4.5 STARS The Gambler is book three in The Wedding Pact series by Denise Grover Swank. The first two books of this series were full of hilarity as Josh and Megan in book one and Blair and Garrett in book two found their forever love. The third friend of this trio, Libby St. Clair, helped her two best friends navigate their way to happiness. Now, it’s just days away from her thirtieth birthday. When Libby and her friends were children, a fortune teller told them that they would each marry by the time they were thirty but not to the man they were planning to marry. While her two friends didn’t believe in the curse, Libby does. Believing in magic is the only thing that has gotten her through life. But now, it’s her wedding day. She’s not in love with Mitch, the man she is supposed to marry. So where is her prince charming? Noah McMillan, Josh’s brother, has always been the disappointment of the family, living in his brother’s shadow. He met Libby at Josh’s wedding and they immediately hit it off, and became best friends. Over the months their friendship progressed until Libby announced she was engaged. Noah can’t understand why this upsets him so much. Until the day of the wedding. He finally realized that he couldn’t let her marry another man because HE was in love with her. That Libby was the only woman he had ever or would ever love. So he rushes to the church to stop the wedding, only when he pulls into the parking lot, he finds a fleeing Libby, a runaway bride, running from the church in her wedding gown. Noah decides to take Libby on a road trip. He declares the next day Libby St. Clair day, devoted fully to her happiness. Noah wants time to convince Libby that they are more than just best friends, that she is the perfect woman for him. He will be patient and give Libby the time she needs to recover from her almost wedding and show her that he is the man for her. They embark on a cross country trip seeing hilarious sites along the way and making their way to Las Vegas. “That’s what best friends are for, right?” She leaned back and looked into his face. “Who knew you’d be so good at this best friend thing?” What Libby doesn’t know is that Noah wasn’t able to secure an important client for he and his brother’s company, again failing to meet his brother’s expectations. But when he realized the client was going to be in Vegas, he plans to secure a meeting there and make one more effort to win the client over. He just has to do this, to be the man he wants to be for Libby, and prove to his brother that he can do it. The time together with Libby is magical. They are both feeling the electric current between them. While Noah is trying to give Libby all the time she needs to fall for him, Libby is already there, but she is afraid that if she lets him know how she feels, that she could lose him. But Las Vegas has a way of working it’s own magic. “Soon her breath evened again and he drifted off to sleep too, wondering if this was what contentment felt like. If it was, he knew he wanted it with her.” Noah and Libby’s time together was so sweet. It was easy to see that they were meant for each other and I loved that they started as best friends. I loved how Noah had grown, the affect that Libby had on him. Both Noah and Libby were dealing with past hurts though. Insecurities that needed to be dealt with before they could forever commit to someone.

The Wedding Pact #3 is an excellent and crazy book, the story of Libby and Noah... If you read the first two books you don't need an intro and if you didn't read those two I can't possibly make you understand... This book was hilarious and sad, points out so many human failings and yet makes you believe in true love... Noah is a ladies man and I guess you could say Libby was a mans lady... But everybody reaches a point where it is time to grow up and face life's realities.. When the right one comes along, you just got to recognize it in spite of complications and previously scheduled weddings...

This was the story I have been waiting for. I fell in love with Libby's personality in book 1:The Substitute as she helps Meg realize her true love and couldn't wait to read about how she falls in love. Noah and Libby's story is perfect. Denise is an amazing writer and has done it again. There are so many laughable moments in this you won't want to put it down. And that isn't enough here's a teaser, Gram and Nana Ruby take a trip together. Let your mind go wild with that and then read the book!

Denise Grover Swank continues the Wedding Pact series with Libby St. Clair in this installment. Libby truly believes in the prediction and the curse that were made when she her and her friends were kids. While she is set to marry her Nebraska Cornhusker loving fiance, she is waiting for fate to step in and deliver the man of her dreams. Instead, she gets Noah. Denise Grover Swank has injected pain, humor, love, and passion into this story of finding love where you least expect it. Even though this is the third installment, Denise has definitely not skimped on any of the elements you expect to read in a Denise Grover Swank story. The characters, the situations, and the emotion are just as complex here as they were in the first one. As I was reading this story, I was worried that some of the characters were going to be cliche and do the usual stuff that you expect from romance characters. However, I was surprised when a situation would arise and the character(s) had an authentic real-world response. This is definitely a series that can be enjoyed by all.

Libby and Noah are my favorite couple out of this series. I fell in love with them in The Substitute. They are such a sweet couple with Noah doing and saying all these crazy things just to make her happy. They had me laughing and smiling throughout the whole story! gram and Ruby just added their own laughter to it. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a humourous sweet read.

This review will not contain spoilers. Denise Grover Swank does it again! This is my favorite book in this series. I laughed until I had tears running down my cheeks. My heart was touched and overwhelmed by the imagination and caring Noah showed for Libby. You will LOVE Gram and Nana Ruby AND they will tickle your funny bones. Uniqueness is all I can say about the wedding and again, I had tears flowing down my cheeks I was laughing so hard. You will love this book!!

❤️ The Gambler ❤️ This book was amazing! It starts off with Libby getting ready to marry her fiancé Mitch. Libby has taken the girls pact and the curse to heart all her life, and she is now turning 30 in only a few days. The question is will the curse turn her wedding into a disaster? Will her friends see what is really going on? Will Libby be happy with how it all turns out? I love how Denise Grover Swank took this story and let it unfold. It was amazing…I laughed out loud and cried and ended the story with very happy tears! I can’t review too much without giving some things away, so if you don’t want to see any spoilers... stop reading here and go get the book

Betting on Love I fell in love with this series from the very first book and waited with SUCH anticipation until the release of the next two. I believed each time I couldn't possibly love the next as much as the last. I. Was. Wrong. (don't tell my husband I admitted that) The Gambler took everything I love about The Wedding Pact series, whirled it into hilarity and romance, and rooted it into my soul. I LOVE Noah and Libby together. I laughed out loud so many times my family started giving me wary sidelong glance like I was losing my mind. Denise has a knack for weaving humor into a story that adds an entirely different depth to it. Let's face it, life is funny if you look for the humor, and she nails it with the entire series. I didn't think anything could be as funny as The Substitute - again, that pesky wrong factor sneaks up! Noah and Libby are going to not only make you laugh but make you root for them SO hard right up until the very end. Nana Ruby and Gram will keep you in stitches, and leave you wondering what they are scheming. I could NOT have imagined a better ending to this series. The way Denise brings the three couples together in the end is full circle ... and just right. Three girls ... a pact ... a curse ... and a happy ending.

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~ This is the best book out of the whole series!! It makes a perfect ending to the trilogy. In this book, it's Libby's turn to get married, but is the one that she is walking down the aisle too, really the one for her? There isn't anything that is there to disrupt the wedding, so this has to be the right guy, Right?! Man. What a whirlwind book!! I don't know where to even begin with this book, without giving anything away. Lets just say that there is a road trip, a wedding dress, and a Czechoslovakian Egg. Have a piqued your interest yet? No? Well, let me say that Libby is a free spirit, and there isn't anyone that could slow her down, except Noah. But, is it him that she is supposed to marry or is it Mitch? Denise has written a masterpiece!! This is the best book out of the entire series. I know that I have already said that, but it is the truth! Your blood will start flowing when things pick up, and you will feel the emotion that Denise has put into this book. If you have read the other two, you will need to read this book!

WOW!!! That was probably my favorite book in the series. I simply loved every single word in it. The story is so intriguing and captivating that I really didn't feel the time flying. It was like I started reading and the next moment I looked, I was already fifty percent in :) The book is quite a lot of fun to read with lot of humor and fun that will leave you belly laughing for the bigger part of it. But there are also heartbreaking and painful scenes that really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. In addition to that, there are quite a few romantic and super hot scenes that are just the perfect cherry on top :) Noah and Libby are quite interesting characters. They are very well developed and have depth that makes them feel quite real. They are fun and have their quirks and feelings, their problems and demons. And in some way Noah and Libby are just perfect for each other. Even though they are both impulsive and some times irresponsible, when they are together, they just complement each other and inspire each other to be better in each aspect of their lives. It is true that they had to go to quite a few hurdles before finally finding the calmness and happiness they both craved, but most of their stepping stones were quite fun to read about. Of course, their path wasn't peppered only with happy experiences. There were the heartbreaking moments of each one of them doubting themselves and also the painful ones of them reliving their pasts and the ghosts that chase them. Thankfully with each others support and a little help from their friends and family, they manage to conquer their fears. And as a bonus to that, Noah is pretty hot :D With his slightly unruly "just-out-of-bed" dark brown hair and long-lashed mesmerizing dark brown eyes sparkling with mischief, he will definitely elevate your breathing. I mean, he is simply pantie melting :) And with her long dark hair, rich brown eyes and clear olive skin, Libby is the perfect compliment to Noah's hotness :) In my opinion, one of the best things in this book, was the combination of Gram and Nana Ruby. Each one of them in her own right are hilarious. But both of them together are just out of this world. With their antics and crazy behavior, they give a humorous and light feeling to the whole book that just makes it all that more fun to read :) And in addition to that, I got the chance to revisit with the couples with the previous books and see how they are doing after their nuptials :) As a whole, I loved reading the book. It was a lot of fun with just a touch of heartbreak and pain but that made it that much better. I think Noah and Libby were my favorite couple in the series. There was just something so endearing about them, that I just couldn't resist letting them in my heart. And the bonus was having both Grams and Nana Ruby in the story :) That was definitely a blast. The only thing I am sorry about is, that was the last book in the series. But I still can't wait to find out what Denise Grover Swank will come up with next :) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Fan-freaking-tastic!!! I absolutely LOVED this book. I've been impatiently waiting for Libby and Noah's story since The Substitute(book 1 of the Wedding Pact Series). As always Denise writes it in such a way that you are pulled into the story and feel as though you are right there with the characters. Libby and Noah's transition from best friends to lovers is a heartwarming, witty and sexy journey. You get more backstory of how their friendship has formed and evolved. Both of them are holding onto things that have happened in their pasts that make them feel that they are not good enough and are not worthy of love. I went through all the emotions while reading this book, laughing out loud one moment and at others times was almost in tears. I loved Grams and Nana Ruby together taking on Las Vegas. I don't know where Denise comes up with the things that Grams and Nana Ruby say and do but it is hilarious!! I was glad to catch up with all the main characters of this series. I am sad to see it end, but Denise did a great job wrapping it up. If you haven't read the previous books, I suggest you wait no longer. You will not be disappointed. I received an ARC (advanced readers copy) of this book for my honest review.

The Perfect Conclusion to The Wedding Pact Series! I love all the books in this series by Denise Grover Swank, but The Gambler was by far my favorite. Who can resist carefree, spirited Libby and hunky Noah?! They fit so well together and I couldn’t help smile at their friendship and romantic chemistry. Their banter was hysterical! And the sexual tension was so thick a chainsaw was needed to cut it! Whew! I needed a fan and a cool drink! Throw in an off-the-wall wedding, a road trip full of odd-ball tourist attractions, two meddling grandmas, a whole bucket load of self discovery and it was the perfect story. I was sad to see the series come to a close, but the outcome was superb! It was a FIVE STAR awesome book!!! **I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

I have really enjoyed 'The Wedding Pact'. All three of the books were fantastic. They were funny, yet had strong storylines behind them. As for The Gambler, I have been waiting for Noah and Libby's story since I finished reading the first book. Wasn't sure how Denise Grover Swank would pull it off, just knew that being the fantastic author that she is, it would be worth the wait, and I was definitely right! I think this is probably my favorite of the three, because I saw a bit of myself in both Noah and Libby. If you are looking for a book that will make you both laugh and possibly cry a bit, be sure and give this one a try. You won't regret it!

The book is not as good as the first two! In fact, after the wedding, it turns terrible. If you like descriptive sexual stuff, it is probably right up your alley. I found it disgusting, and I'm not a prude. Did not enjoy the filth in the last part, and do not intend reading any more of her books.
