Good concept. **Caution!** Filthy language used throughout!!!

I liked the book except for the foul language used. There is no reason why such obscene language is needed for a diet book. If it were not for the language I would have gladly bought this book for several of my friends to start up a friendly competition. As it stands - I bought 2 copies when this came out and gave the 2nd copy to my best friend. I ended up apologizing to her for all the filthy potty mouth talk. Such a shame that what could be a great book that many friends would buy for each other to compete has this language. I was glad to finally finish the book and implement the ideas on my own.

    Diasppointing

Great innovative concept presented in an easy "pick up and use" format. I was disappointed in the use of profanity throughout the book. If you want to create a team of people as this book suggests, it would have to be folks that can not be offended by it's language. I would love a reprinting without the use of the F*** word on every other page. If it were, I might actually suggest it to friends and play the game the book describes.

Uses the f-bomb way too much!! Reader beware!

I think this is a great book, and presents a great theory in embarking into healthy competition wiht friends. I was very put out, however, by Krista's use of the f-bomb way too often in the book. I think these theories can be presented in a much nicer way without the use of such obsenities. I can understand her need to use humor to keep the reader engaged, but the foul language just isn't necessary. We are starting a competion at work, and I am almost embarrased to admit that it was my suggestion because of the foul language.

    Game on!!

This book is a gas and kick in the a##. Krista and Az are instant best friends who keep you laughing and inspired as they share their experiences and breakdowns. They create a way of life that is fun, gratifying, and puts your health and well-being against a back-drop of accountability that only comes from head to head competition. The game is so fun and so energizing--I was surprised at how competitive I was, how much fun I had trash-talking to the other teams, and the fit beast I was after completing the game cycle. The structure of the game is easy, maintainable, and simply life-changing. I have never managed my eating in this way; it provided a basis for health and fitness that I will carry for the rest of my life. And if I ever slip, fitness is just a game away. This book serves all readers, from the person who could care less about exercise to the avid athlete who needs a new way to push themselves. Thanks Az and Krista!

    A lot of fun!

I love this book! It has done what I previously thought was impossible and made weight loss fun. Diets never seemed to work for me, leaving me hungry, tired and unmotivated. Who knew a little bit of friendly competition would be the thing to finally kick my butt in gear? The Game On Diet gives you points for eating right, exercising, getting your daily supply of water and even sleeping! When I started the game, wanting to win was the thing that kept me going. (I really love how my slow metabolism and aversion to running doesn't mean that I can't beat my gym bunny girlfriends). The bonus of actually looking and feeling better, plus the spa day my team got for winning, has made this something I plan to do again and again. The book itself explains the game really well, while also addressing all the concerns of people like me who usually can't stick it out. But my favorite part had to be the recipes. They not only helped this foodie get into the game but turned out to be pretty yummy. My one complaint is that I wish there were more of them. The Game On Diet is a great way to have a blast while slimming down!

The Only Diet Book You'll Ever Need To Read!

This is a book that will change the way you see life, not to mention, will make you laugh until you've peed yourself. (yes, that's considered calories burned in my book). Nobody likes diets - who says losing anything is great? But gaining your life back, and confidence back, and the exciting feeling of knowing people are staring at you because you look HOT! - is why you should read this book! This book makes dieting fun (and for the first time in history) you can lose weight without depriving yourself and tell your friends to EAT IT! (secretly hoping that they actually will so they'll lose points and you'll win!) Fun times all around!

    This book changed my Life!!!

Sounds dramatic, I know. But seriously, this book helped me change my mind set in so many areas of my life....not just health and fitness. It taught me that you can make huge changes in your life in minutes a day....the key is consistency.
The good habbit/bad habbit points made starting my own business less daunting and more exciting. Of coarse, loosing weight while beating up on my friends was a lot of fun too. I'm pregnant with my second child and due in September. I can't wait to start a new game in the fall to help me loose my "baby weight" again.

    Boring

Hard time reading it, way to personal. Should of just wrote a book on the diet itself and charged less money. So not worth $10 plus.

I want all my friends and family to hurry up and read this book so we can get our GAME ON!!!

This book surprised and delighted me. I was expecting a book with a new approach to diet and exercise- and in that area it didn't disappoint- but I wasn't expecting it to be so funny, engaging, and poignant. I laughed out loud constantly, couldn't put it down, and when I got to the last page I handed it to my husband with direct orders to read it asap so we can get down and dirty and play The Game! Loved it!!

    I LOVE THIS BOOK!!

I read this book in one sitting, which I never do. I bought it expecting some weight loss advice, and what I got is the best summer read ever! It's almost more like a memoir than a diet book -- and it's totally relatable and hilarious! I swear it changed the way I think about my body and my life -- I'm sooo excited to play the game!! SO EXCITED!!!

    The best diet ever!

Krista is absolutely amusing throughout the book as she explains the rules of this diet game. I just finished my first game and lost almost 20 pounds in four weeks. It is fun, entertaining, and extremely supportive - all of the things a typical diet is not. I highly recommend this to everyone.

2 Games Down and Kicking Butt

A friend of mine participated in a game back in February. A bunch of us were intrigued by the concept and beginning in May, a new game started that we could all participate in. I just wrapped up my 2nd game (after taking 1 week between games) and I'm currently down 16 lbs. I feel great and I'm looking forward to starting a new round next week.
The book was written in a way that I found to be light reading but really informative. Everything that was presented was done in a way that makes sense which appeals to me. Also, it gave me a fresh look at a new way to modify my diet to lose the weight. If you're looking for a fresh approach, this is the way to do it!

    Game on

Some of my book pages were faded and smeared and B&N sent me another copy.
It is an interesting new way to go about dieting in a competitive manner. I also think the swearing was a little too much.
This was recommended as a book club reading and many are refusing to participate and I'm finding out that other people outside of the book club want to join in.No idea if it will work since its still on our discussion phase.
Authors could have written more check lists for scoring.

It is fun! (as far as diets go!)

My brother challenged me to get a team together and do "Game On". I was skeptical at first but it turned out to be a fun way to lose some weight! I had been slacking off many aspects of health and this really pulls it together. It not only focuses on weight loss, but on good habits, sleep, and water as well. It was tough to follow but it was fun to have a team support plus the motivation of playing other teams too! We are starting our second round of this game tomorrow. We're going to win this time! :-)

    Buy this book, Stat!

Any fan of Grey's Anatomy should buy this book ASAP! Krista Vernoff, head writer of Grey's, co-authors this diet guide that pits teams of dieters against one another in order to shed the pounds. The book is like an episode of the show in a lot of ways. There is great story: It is filled with anecdotes about everything from weight loss to coping with your vices. There is medicine: Krista brings in the professionals, from her Body-for-LIFE champion co-author Az's exercise tips to various doctors' explanations of why and how things work. There is humor: with chapter titles like "Playing by yourself (which differs slightly from playing with yourself)" and hilarious retellings of dialogue between resistant Krista and determined Az. And finally there is heart, where Krista lets you in on her own trials and tribulations and helps to inspire you to get going on your own weight loss journey. The best part is that after you are done there is still an incredibly exciting game to play. The diet itself works and is almost as much fun to do as the book is to read. Grey's fans, people looking for a great diet and those who just like a good game should all grab this book.

    Easy to stick with

Lots of diets are usually aimed at women. This is for everyone. It really is a game and if you are like me and love to win then you will stick with it. The book explains everything very well and uses a variety of real people who have done the diet to tell you how it worked for them. I also like how the end of every chapter answers any possible question you might have. It feels more like a game then it does a diet and that always keeps me on track. I think that anyone would find this helpful if they want to lose weight but don't like doing it the normal boring way.
