Ruth's wonderful voice will be familiar to fans of the Wailin' Jennys, the band she founded with Nicky Mehta. This is her first full-length solo album.
It is a work of amazing beauty, calmness and musicianship. It is a transforming experience to listen to it. I have experienced this before with the Jennys, but this is on a new level. The production, by David Travers-Smith, is of outstanding quality. Stylistically the collection of songs is beautifully balanced.
Ruth assembled a formidable collection of musicians to back her up - all the Jennys are there at some point, plus, for example, Aoife O'Donovan and Brittany Hass from "Crooked Still" and her own brother Richard on violin.
Please support her, and give yourself a wonderful experience, by buying this for your self and everyone you can think of who might like it.
