    If you only buy one book...

    Two years ago, my wife and recently purchased a 5 acre lot with no landscaping or gardening to speak of. It's a blank slate. We've since purchased and used about 10 books, many of which have been good. But this one is great. It has a month by month breakdown of what needs to be done, good info on just about anything you can think of, and a reference guide for just about anything you want to plant. If you only buy one book, this is definitely the one. My one criticism is that it has a slight bias toward Eastern gardens and flowers (I live in the NW, and am planting lots of trees and shrubs). Still, I use this book 10 times more than any other I own.
