Overview

STEALING HIS HEART. Crack shot Maddie Campbell isn't your ordinary thief. She'll do she'll do anything to insure the safety and survival of her young daughter and the three hundred other widows and orphans left homeless and penniless after a horrific mining accident—including convincing those responsible for the accident to "donate" to the cause. Maddie and her merry band have been getting cleanly away with their thefts until the day former sheriff Scott McSween arrives in town.

He's been hired by the mining company owner to bring an end to the crime spree. Despite her efforts to throw him off track, he's convinced Maddie is connected to the robberies. Determined to draw out all her secrets, he plies her with soft caresses, passionate kisses, and nights spent exploring her body in ways no man has previously dared. But when confronted with a truth that can't be denied, Scott must chose between the woman he loves and the law he's sworn to uphold.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author CATHY MCDAVID is pleased to re-release her award-winning book THE GATE TO EDEN, complete with new and expanded scenes.

Meet the Author

Cathy McDavid had no idea when she opened that first Walter Farley book in third grade, it would be a defining moment in her life. After devouring every Black Stallion and Island Stallion book written at the time -- the process took over a year -- she decided she wanted her own horse. That dream was realized a few years later, and Cathy went on to own horses and ride most of her life. Bonanza and Big Valley reruns every day after school enforced her love of all things western as well as a fascination with "cowboy" history.

Always an avid reader, she first put fingers to keyboard in 1995 and penned her first novel. She enjoyed some success with smaller publishers, but it wasn't until 2005 when she finally got to see her first mass market paperback on the shelves of Barnes and Noble bookstores. There was no going back after that. In 2006, she started writing contemporary westerns for Harlequin American couldn't be happier. All those years of reading every horse book ever written andwatching old western TV shows finally paid off!

These days, she is "mostly" retired from the corporate business world and writes full time from her home in Scottsdale, Arizona near the breath-taking McDowell Mountains, where javalina traipse across her yard, hawks fly overhead and bobcats hide in her trees. Her twenty-two year old twins have "mostly" left the house to live on their own, but return often, if only to use her washer and dryer and empty out her refrigerator -- a situation that does not make her two spoiled dogs and two spoild-er cats happy. When time allows, she heads to her cabin in the mountains, always taking her laptop with her on the chance inspiration strikes.

    super western romance

In 1886, the women of Edenville, Arizona Territory are devastated when a mine explosion kills all their men. Blaming the owners for unsafe conditions that led to the deaths of loved ones, the females led by Maddie Campbell decide to insure a modicum of justice occurs as the mining company got off without a look back at widows and children. Maddie and her merry women begin robbing the mine owners. --- The owners hire former US Marshall Scott McSween to catch the criminals. Maddie realizing that an ex lawman is after her and her band decides the best way to fool Scott is to seduce him before dumping him so that he assumes with his male-brain that she is all woman and could not be an outlaw. However, though she likes his kisses and his looks, Maddie only reconsiders her ruse when she observes how kind Scott is with her daughter. --- THE GATE TO EDEN is a super western romance whose timing is sadly appropriate with recent mining disasters depressed further by excuses and alibis especially by the regulatory agencies. Fans will appreciate the women who seek justice while the mine owners have the law on their side in spite of negligence and dangerous working conditions. The action-packed story line grips the audience who will wonder what Scott will do once he learns the truth. --- Harriet Klausner
