    Not what I expected

The premise of the book is good. The main character could have been very interesting and dynamic. However, she comes across annoying and unlikable at times. The author packs too much information into some aspects and not enough into others. She also beats the reader over the head with the main characters proclivities. I was intrigued by some scenes and bored to tears by others. Not the most enjoyable read, and I probably won't continue the series.

    Different!

The main character is different from most books protagonists. It made for an interesting read, also a fast one. I enjoyed Genevieve's different thinking patterns, the relationships between the characters and the well-developed mystery. I bought the second book and hope it will be as great as this one.

I picked this book up in the free section. I have read good books and I would categorize this as a great book!  The character of Dr. Lenard is amazing and I give incredible credit to the author in writing her so well.  Her spectrum disorder is believable and makes her interesting. Other reviews find her difficult but her character makes the book intriguing. I would highly recommend it. It is a great book for the beach or a rainy day.
I had a hard time putting it done once started. I think many will find it an enjoyable read.

    Art, Computers, and International Crime

nook book If you like really long books--over 900 pages--this one is for you. I felt that the story could have been told more succinctly. It is told in the first person by Genevieve Lenard, a researcher, who suffers from a form of autism. She also is lacking in social skills. Young artists have been killed, paintings have been forged, and an organization needs to be prosecuted. Jen works for Philip, who introduces her to Manny, Two former criminals join the group, Colin and Vinnie, who becomes her bodyguard and live in cook. It started slowly, but did become interesting. This is too long to recommend for book group discussions. I might read another in the series, but not right away.

Estelle Ryan writes so well showing how some autistics' have poor social skills that can annoy others. But as with real, true friends, you learn to overlook some traits because the sum of that person is so much better then a few parts. Great first series read, can't wait to read more!

    Really a four1/2

I am a big fan of Law and Order CI and Robert Goren, Vincent D'Nofrio's character. I say this because he has an expertise in micro emotions, like the protaganist Genevive Lenard in what hopes to be a very enjoyable series of quirky mysteries by Estelle Ryan.

Yes, there were times that the repitions of the standards of studying people got rather "fussy", but then I'd take a break and come back later. What I never got was why the strip of Gaugin's painting ever. really. mattered in the long run

    Excellent read!

Dr Genevieve Lenard is an intriguing lead character and the mix of supporting characters is both fun and interesting. I loved the book. Upon completing the book, I immediately purchased the second book in the series. I can't wait for the third book to come out.

Reading this was like getting trapped in a spider's web. I got caught up in the action and intrigue as well as the subtle romance. A very well written book and recommended reading.

I'd have liked to give this 4 stars, but I couldn't....

Good story told from a "new" and interesting point of view.

I thought it was somewhat over-written and there were editing errors where I kept going "huh???", re-reading, and feeling very distracted. Also, the story got bogged down, confusing, and convoluted at times. and confusing at times.

Manny's character, though pivotal, got very old, very fast. A one-note, predictable Johnny of emotions and reactions. I also wondered and felt bad about how Francine fell off the map entirely and was totally forgotten near the end of the book. It didn't make sense. Otherwise, really good characters and interactions within the confines of Genevive's world.

    Great Read

This is the first I'm reading work by this author and I was entranced. I love a plot with twists and turns. It reminds me of Dan Brown books. I'll be reading the rest of the series as well.

    Interesting

A mystery which keeps the reader hopping! Reading this book had me going to an art history volume to check the information and to take a look at Gauguin's artwork again. A very enjoyable book.
