Overview

Their technological resources destroyed, a colonizing expedition from Earth has been stranded on the world of Methuen for over two hundred years. Their continued survival is largely due to the organization of healers known as the Eumedicos and to the Seekers Veritas, a unique group composed of pairs of Bondmates, one human and one ghatti—a telepathic catlike being native to Methuen who bonds with a specific human for life. These Bondmates travel from town to town, settling disputes by truth-reading the minds and emotions of plaintiffs and defendants. While most people respect the Seekers, there are those who fear the ghatti powers. And now someone has begun attacking Seeker pairs.

What no one knows is that this destroyer has targeted one specific pair of Bondmates as special victims—the woman Doyce and the ghatta Khar'pern. For the key to defeating this deadly foe is locked away in Doyce's mind behind barriers even her ghattas has never been able to break down.

In this first novel set on the far world of Methuen, Earth colonists have been stranded for two centuries with very little of their technological resources intact. Their continued survival relies on the Seekers Veritas, made up of Bondmates--one human and one ghatti (telepathic catlike beings native to the planet). Now, an unknown enemy is launching a lethal attack against the Seekers. Original.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
The telepathic bonding between pairs of human Seekers and catlike ghattis enables the Seekers Veritas to distinguish truth from falsehood, insuring that justice prevails on the world of Methuen. When a renegade Seeker/ghatti pair begins targeting Seekers for murder, a young woman finds her world's salvation locked in the recesses of her hidden past. Strong characterization and inventive world building highlight this series opener, making it a good choice for most fantasy collections.

    A must read

The Ghatti's Tale: Finders Seekers is a masterful blend of action, adventure, mystery and romance. The characters are believable with personality's and intricate back story's. The setting is both fantasy and Sci-fi, being set on another planet but with a medieval atmosphere. A series of gruesome murders spur's the main characters, Doyce and her Ghatta bond mate Khar'pern in to action. Doyce must stop the killers before a web of lies destroys everything the people have built. Join Doyce, Khar, and their faithful steed Lokka as they race to save their world. The plot twists will keep you guessing until the very end. You will laugh, cry and cheer along as the book progresses. You will not be able to put it down. Must read the whole series together. Great for cat lovers and fantasy/sci-fi readers alike.

    I love this book!

The entire series is well worth reading. I have the entire series and every so often I read the entire set again. I definitely recommend this book.

    Ghatti's Tale a Page Turner

I have read this book three times. Being fond of cats, I feel that Gayle Greeno has done a super job of giving the ghatten personalities. My favorites are Doyce and Khar. I think Doyce depends on Khar to maintain her sanity and peace of mind.
I loved the way the ghatti all got together and mind spoke to the young ghatten. They all seemed to be more mature and a better judge of character than the "humans" in the story.
This book is the first of the series. I strongly suggest that the whole series be read together. It is like reading a family history of the ghatti.

    A fresh premise

Yes, Mercedes Lackey did an excellent job with her Companion, the more-than-horses. Gayle Greeno put a new twist on this by having telepathic cats who are a seperate species, instead of having a mystical beginning like the Companions. I don't care for cats much, but I still loved this book! It took a while to really hook me, but it was worth it.

    Riveting suspense.......

Gale Greeno takes you on a endless journey as you enter the world where it is the future yet it is the past. Joyce's life took an abrupt turn when a magical cat decided to enter her life. From that moment on Joyce's life would never again be the same.

    Good for cat lovers

When I bought this books I thought it was going to be like Mercedes Lackey's _Valdemar_ books, except with cats instead of horses & raptors. In a way, it was, but there was also a lot that was different. The thing I liked best was Greeno's depiction of feline body language & attitudes -- this woman knows cats! The human relationships were pretty predictable, though, and it seemed like the human characters were often unbelievably stupid just to move the story along. I very much liked the indigenous sentient life and their culture, and was sorry that only came in at the end. All in all, I liked it and it made me want to read the rest of the series.

    Incredible:by Dez

A superb book, it contains the ghatta Khar'pern who pushes to attain a greater bond, and Doyce who needs to understand her past to unveil the future... The kind of 'magic' the book holds is unique. When I read this book, I drove my freinds mad! Any spare time I had I would read and almost completely ignore them. 3 words; you get hooked.
