Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
It is the Super Readers to the rescue of their friend, Pig, who is afraid of Halloween. Those children who are familiar with the television series, "Super WHY!," will recognize the rest of the group, Princess Pea, Whyatt Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood. At the Book Club, the Super Readers change into their super hero personas—Wonder Red, Princess Presto, Super Why, and Alpha Pig—and use books to solve problems. In this adventure to help Pig, they use their "Why Flyers" and "enter" the story about a ghost who was scared of Halloween. The super heroes try to help the ghost by using his or her super powers to help solve the ghost's problem and the pig's issue. There are colorful illustrations of the round-eyed, cartoon-like characters. The book is part of the "All Aboard Reading" series. Some children may need assistance with the vocabulary; children not familiar with the Super Reader characters may need support in understanding the plot and subplot of the story.
