Meet the Author

I was born Doris Bishop and grew up the middle daughter of Jim & Annie Bishop in a small village in the southern end of Breckinridge County. I went to a two-room school there at Glen Dean until high school. I graduated from Breckinridge County High School in 1953. I married and raised three children. In 1974 I was hired as Cloverport Municipal Clerk-Treasurer and spent 24 years in that position. In 2001, I married my second husband, Don Sanders, who encouraged me to pursue my dream of writing novels. My first book was published in 2003. As of 2012, I have published a total of 15. I enjoy writing, reading and music. And living with my husband on a few acres of land just south of Cloverport.

    Tough to slog through.

This read as if it was a first draft. The ending was abrupt - as if the author just gave up. I'm not sure what age group this was meant for, but the writing is juvenile (awkward descriptions, stilted conversations, misrepresentation of character ages with dialogue.) I forced myself to read the entire book, in the hopes that it might redeem itself as the storyline unfolded.

300 some page of a happy ending, the characters are shallow and poorly developed. The cover is probably the scariest part of the book.

I wish I could give this book a negative star

This book is awful. The writing is terrible. My fourth grade students write better than this. I don't even know where to begin. The dialog is stilted. The author has no clue how four year olds speak. She also does not have any idea how a 19 year old would speak or act. And as for the plot.....give me a break. Totally impossible. I am glad that I did not waste money on this. Actually embarrassed to admit that I read half of it.

    Poorly written

The ideas in the story are good, but it is poorly written. It jumps around way too much. The ghost part is underdeveloped while other parts are over developed. I read all of it because I have a hard time not finishing a book. I was very glad to get to the last page. While it was cute, it needs so much more work to make it more enjoyable. Seemed to be more about a wedding than anything else....

    Enjoyable

I enjoyed this book, I liked all the descriptions of the house, people and thoughts Doris gave..although some of the things said by the twins were a bit mature for that of 5 year olds
At times I thought Johnny a bit pushy and taking to much to himself..like the sneaking around he did...as a parent he would have scared me a bit
Some of the circumstances sounded a bit to out there, but then so does some of the TV shows do to (laugh)
I knew how the book ended there would be another one to follow and there is...I am reading it next :)

    Loving family

The best part about the book is the merging of two families thanks to the ghosts. I thought the ending too abrupt. Can't wait to read the next story.
