Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

In this first-ever complete audio recording of the popular 2006 poetry anthology-separately sold multivolume recordings (LJ 6/15/06) are also available-13 actors and voice artists read some 550 poems grouped into 12 categories and spanning ancient through contemporary times. The readers vary in their ability to impart an appropriate level of drama, some conveying a forced theatricality detracting from the poetry. This collection would be appropriate as an introduction to poetry for those put off by reading poetry or as an accompaniment to the print edition (with no written index, guide, or annotations, the audio would certainly benefit from print companionship). Large libraries should purchase if needed.
