The Golden Age Flash Archives, Volume 1 based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Most avid comic readers know that history and social cisrcumstance dictate the setting for most comics of the 20th century. Here, history played the dominant role. The original 'Flash' comic series was one created so that people could think that if they were playing with the right chemicals they, too, could run faster than light and still enjoy that after dinner cigarette. I found this reprint a gem from the golden era, when elegance and style was the rage, you could fully cloth yourself and be considered beautiful, and the hero always got their mate. DC Comics managed to (at that time) create a string of fantastic stories of heroism in a time where Communists and Nazis were thought to be living next door. Patriotism took a strong tone in the series, however this first series helped launch a string of comics that would create the 'Fastest Men Alive,' and keep all of them until DC Comic's much loved 'Crisis' series of 1985. This book is a must read for historians and Flash fans.
