"Trust an ex-nun to write the hottest, most desperate and exhilarating romance of the year . . . " (Contra Costa Times)

Lady Jessica "Jessie" Carville gave up on up men six years ago, after being deserted by Lord Hugo Duran, the man she loved beyond all reason. She has carried on with her life and . . . shockingly . . . with her career. Although most of Society frowns upon a woman in business, Lady Jessica is a natural at collecting and selling antiques. She's put the past behind her until one night at an auction, when Duran shows up. He's back in England, and he has plans that involve her. Can she resist what he has in mind?

Duran, though willful and mysterious, is a gentleman-when it suits him. Yet he left his lover without so much a note saying why. Now he's on a mission filled with danger. If he doesn't succeed, he will die. Can he convince Jessica to help him without endangering her as well?

Lynn Kerstan, former college professor, folksinger, professional bridge player, and nun, is the author of sixteen romance novels and four novellas, all set in Regency England.

A RITA winner and five-time RITA Finalist, her books are regularly listed among the best in the Regency genre. The Golden Leopard and Heart of the Tiger were selected by Library Journal for its Best Books of the Year list (2002 and 2003), and Dangerous Passions was named by Booklist as one of the Top Ten Romances of 2005.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
When black sheep adventurer Lord Hugo Duran suddenly reappears in Lady Jessica Carville's life after an absence of more than six years, she has no intention of either renewing their past romantic relationship or of letting him jeopardize her fledgling position as an antiquities expert. But in his wanderings through India, Duran has run afoul of a local petty tyrant and will forfeit his life if he cannot locate a missing jeweled statue-and for that he needs Jessica's help. Although the bones of the story are classic and deceptively simple, the wonderfully complex characters and intricate, beautifully delineated details lend a richness to a gradually unfolding tale that will keep readers wondering how things can possibly work out. Adding spice to the mix are a few unforgettable secondary characters (including an honorable assassin) and some surprisingly hot but beautifully integrated sex scenes. Although Kerstan's romances have always been well done, the superb character development, the emotional depth, and the exquisite sexual tension in this Regency vaults her to a new level. This is her best to date and a definite top-tier "keeper." Kerstan (Lord Dragoner's Wife) is a RITA Award-winning writer and lives in Southern California. Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.

    Review:

"The Golden Leopard" by Lynn Kerstan was a novel with action adventurous historical romance that had a 'exotic settings, intensed scenes and some undercurrent of humor' all rolled up together making this a good read. This novel is the first in series for this author. You will find that the hero and heroine( Duran & Jessica) who had a torrid romance along with the adventures they endured. I did find this novel definitely a combination of 'Indiana Jones and Romancing the Stone' and loaded with twist and turns and amazing action. This was one read that I could put down...with all of its suspense. The setting for "The Golden Leopard" was in India and England...where you will find this read filled with 'dark plots, cultural differences, greed, passion, family dynamics and less not leave out the snobbery of the ton.' You will find all of the characters are well developed and interesting keeping the read alive.

So, if you are interested in a historical settings with a mixture of adventure, romance and a story that will move swiftly you have come to the right place for "The Golden Leopard" would be recommended to you as a good read.

    Good read

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed it though i like novels where the man is powerful wealthy. This story starts in india and has lots of adventure. It is different from other stories but interesting and ends well. The romance is very good.

combination of Indiana Jones and Romancing the Stone

In 1821 India, charming con artist Lord Hugo Duran stands trial for stealing the Heart of Alanbad. Needing a lie when he knows the truth of innocence will not work, Hugo insists a dream brought him here and that he is to go home to England to find the Golden Leopard and return it to its rightful owner. The court rules if he fails to restore the jewel within a year, he will die. Hugo needs help to succeed and at the same time he sees this as an opportunity to finish his business with Jessica Carville, who he once hurt badly. After Hugo failed her, Jessie plunged deeply into her other passion, dealing rare antiquities. Though she wants to tell Hugo to go to the devil, Jessie, tempted by his quest, agrees to accompany him, but does not relish the idea of marrying him to keep her reputation in tact. As the excursion turns dangerous, both realizes they still love one another, but if they survive, she does not trust him to stay. THE GOLDEN LEOPARD is a combination of Indiana Jones and Romancing the Stone. The story line is fast paced and loaded with action, twists, and gender bending (at least for the regency period) subplots. The support cast feels like they come from Peter Lorre clones while the lead couple is a delight though why Jessie suddenly worries about her rep after shredding it as a dealer seems a bit stretched. Still Lynn Kerstan keeps the reader enthralled with this suspense thriller that has just enough romance to please readers of both genres. Harriet Klausner

    Please stop complaining

If reviews are longer than a couple of sentences, I just read another. Skip the ones that give the story away. But to give the author a bsd review is just bratty. Grow up!

    L

And along comes harriet klausner to ruin another book with her excessive book report cliff note review. Bn, are you EVER going to do anything to this poster? She constantly ruins books by giving away the entire plot, and by constantly getting away with it, ensures that other plot spoilers feels free to do the same thing. Ban her, delete her plot spoilers and other plot spoilers like her. Ppl are sick of them!!!!
