Triple-tested, fail-proof recipes come from both the magazine's archive of favorites and from celebrities like Ina Garten, Martha Stewart, and Bobby Flay, along with favorite Christmas memories from Sting, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, and many other famous contributors. No detail is overlooked in Good Housekeeping's newest Christmas cookbook, which includes planning guides; decorating, entertaining, and cleaning tips; celebrity-contributed quotes and subsections (e.g., Paula Deen's "Irresistible Holiday Appetizers"); and more than 300 recipes for cocktails, mains, sides, and desserts. Though impressive in scope, this title delivers a mixed message, promising to "chase away stress" while also urging readers to test new recipes in advance, sleep in the guest room to ensure its comfort, hand polish the silver, and lay a festive tablescape. Recipes—mostly American, with some healthy options—include nutrition facts. VERDICT Recommended for serious hosts organizing large, traditional gatherings and for readers in search of creative Christmas ideas.

It is more than a cookbook - it's a really excellent cookbook with lots of recipes, both familiar and new, to make any Holiday celebration that much better. But there's great tips on Holiday decorating as well, making this cookbook that much more indispensable. If you enjoy the great ideas of Good Housekeeping, you will find this tome invaluable.

I bought three of these for gifts including one for myself with the great sale. I have not cooked, nor baked, from it as yet. I plan to begin doing experimentation dishes in preparation for the 2014 holidays so I will be ready to go! This will be a year-round, fun process!! I gifted two of the books and each person was extremely pleased.

I agree with the previous post - a better description and some sample pages might entice me to purchase this book as a gift. Sight unseen? Not likely.
