    Too much hype

Being an avid Simpsons fan and a Youth Director, I had hoped that this book would be more profound. Instead I found that it simply scratches the surface of the Simpson's spiritual life. This book is more useful as an episode guide than actually discussing the nature of the family's spiritual life. A couple of times I found myself saying, hmmm that is an interesting point. But instead of disecting it's spiritual ramifications, the author would jump to another point, failing to give any meat to his argument. With that said, it is of course about the Simpsons, so cannot be all bad.

Fun book about a fun series.

This book is awesome because it gives you a perspective on your own faith and a perspective on what the writers of the simpsons are trying to accomplish. the first episode I saw after I read this book just totally opened up to me, made me laugh more than the first time I saw it and really showed me some truths (yeah that sounds funny but it's true). this book makes any parents who have never let their kids watch the simpsons not only look unreasonable but also like they are holding a learning tool (and a humorous tool) back from there kids. I highly recommend this book.

Insightful book on The Simpsons and religion

Pinsky's book takes an intriguing look at the treatment of religion in the show. Various aspects, including God, Jesus, heaven, hell and prayer are discussed, and you'll be able to see your favorite episodes from a whole new perspective. The multitude of quotes and references to dozens and dozens of classic scenes keep you smiling throughout the book, while the religious side constantly offers food for thought. If you've been under the impression that reading a book about religion isn't very entertaining, this book can make you a convert. Easily one of the best Simpsons books ever made. Highly recommended by a hardcore fan!
