Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Arranged alphabetically, the more than 2000 entries in this work aim to give an overview of American history. The selection of people, places, and events is up to date, with many informative references to events and personalities through 1992. Reading the Foreword and Preface is essential to understanding fully the excitement one feels turning from page to page. The inclusion of basic historical documents like the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and Constitution, as well as the 27 Amendments and the Gettysburg Address, gives balance to the term ``fact finder'' found in the title. Unfortunately, the illustrations are poor and detract from the scholarly tone, but this title is a solid addition to the public library community, at a reasonable cost.-- M.E. Chitty, Fairchilde International Lib. Inst., Plainfield, N.J.
