It’s a “Great Cat Caper” for the S.A.V.E. Squad

It’s bad enough S.A.V.E. Squad member Vee Nguyen has to fight her way back into the smart kids’ class, but now she’s expected to complete a school service learning project, too? Eek!

On the worst first day of school in the history of the planet, Vee meets one of the Community Center Dumpster cats, a curious kitten who is a lot like her: hissing and without a spot to call its own. But someone at the Senior Center wants the cats—gulp—gone by the Helpful City Festival. So Vee and the S.A.V.E. Squad leap in to save the cats before it's too late. They make one mistake after another, while Vee works madly to test back into the smart kids' class. To complicate things even further, the Squad’s favorite TV show--Everything Animal--is coming to town,  and the cats aren't ready!

Will Vee regain her spot as smart kid. . .and will the curious kitten find a permanent spot in Vee's arms?

Editorial Reviews

HottBooks - Regina Hott
I think this is a great example of how a middle-grade book should be written. There are several strong yet vastly different personalities to show the reader that no matter who you are it’s okay. The characters are working together for something that doesn’t benefit them in the least. Finally, it not only hits on several disappointments and changes that greet girls in that age range but also shows how friendship can help you through life.
Irene's Christian Reviews
This is a great book and although it is the second in this series you could read this book and enjoy it without having read the first one.  I thought the characters were enjoyable and the story moved quickly.  I thought the adventure was age appropriate and could be enjoyed by any child

Eclectic Reading
This is a great second installment to the series.  The differences of the girls make the story attractive to a wide variety of girls, including adopted, single parent, divorced family, home-schooled, and Christian.  This series is perfect for third through sixth grade girls that are not yet into the boy or vampire scene.  They will see themselves in at least one of the characters, and enjoy reading of the girl’s struggles as they attempt to accomplish their goals and deal with their family situations.  Girls will laugh aloud at on the S.A.V.E. Squad’s efforts and failures as they try to make everybody happy.

    Hott Synopsis:
When the S.A.V.E. Squad, including Sunny, Aneta, Vee, and Esther, accidentally find out that the cats living at the dumpsters near their meeting place are going to be ‘removed’ they know they just need to do something.
Can they put aside their differences and disappointments, once again, to save the little darlings?

    Hott Review:
These middle-grade books are a bit difficult for me to review. I know it’s because the girls reading them are so vastly different. Their personalities go from 6 to 36 in a matter of seconds, so the books written for them need to fit all of their changings.
That being said, I think this is a great example of how a middle-grade book should be written. The characters are working together for something that doesn’t benefit them in the least.
