Cat Power's The Greatest remains my favorite album from 2006 by a long shot. And it is in the top 5 of best CDs for the first decade of the new millenium. While it may seem wise to break this review down into different components -- vocal quality and styling, arrangements, instrumentation, back-up singers, etc. -- none of that is needed to make this point: Cat Power (Chan Marshall) has created, quite frankly, a true masterpiece. This is the real deal, folks. After 3 years of listening, I still get goosebumps, I remain awestruck at the sheer beauty of her art. And of the courage needed to reveal such a vulnerable side of herself. This CD is recommended for any serious music lover who would enjoy being immersed in a sonic world of unprecedented character. Purchase the album. Play it, and sit back and enjoy. Once you can catch your breath, write your own thrilling review. This is the album most artists can only dream of creating it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
