Overview

When it comes to the Blessed Mother and her titles, there are many. Those that are sanctioned by the Church constitute some of the most beautiful titles attributed to Our Lady, and have, through the ages, been widely used by all peoples. But, for us only to be "familiar" with a Marian Title, tends to do it and ourselves an injustice. Without completely understanding the title, we can never fully appreciate it.

In order for us to realize how a Marian Title can totally bathe us with its true beauty, we need to know more than just its name. The origin of that title-and the story behind it-are key factors when it comes to us being ultimately filled by what that title has the power to give us.

In his enlightening new book, The Greatest Marian Titles: Their History, Meaning, and Usage, Dr. Buono presents, in clear, easy-to-understand language, what can be considered twenty-four of the most important and accepted Marian titles today.

Alongside each discussed title is a history, meaning, and usage section. The information provided here offers a fresh, more in-depth explanation for each title. This not only enables readers to gain a better insight into each title but also displays how best to obtain a fuller understanding of those presented. With such a readable and informative book of Mary's Titles before them, readers are sure to learn how best to go about keeping these titles constant in their own lives.

A perfect companion book to Dr. Buono's The Greatest Marian Prayers: Their History, Meaning, and Usage (ISBN-13: 9780818908613), The Greatest Marian Titles: Their History, Meaning, and Usage is an excellent sourcebook for class, group, or private study. This present volume is a book that will be welcomed by those who venerate the Mother of God, those interested in her, and those who are open to her titles.

Editorial Reviews

Crux of the News
The Greatest Marian Titles: Their History, Meaning, and Usage is a wonderful explanation of some of the powerful words the Church and her members have used to describe the Mother of God. From the beginning, the Church has used titles to designate aspects of our Lord, like Messiah, Lamb of God, Son of Man, and Son of God. Titles for Mary in the Liturgy and in piety are likewise numerous. This book deals with 24 titles, which provide a veritable encyclopedia of Mariology.

    Inspiring!!!!

A job well done explaining and clarifying the meaning of words used in our daily prayers. Defining the very word mother, and its true significance to Christians. Understanding Mary as a human and the mother of God.
