Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
An oversized book representing a daily newspaper is a very clever way to teach history. As the authors note, there really were no newspapers as we know them during this time, but if there were, then this is what they might have said. It is fascinating; the topics range from what people's daily lives were like, to the outcome of battles, entertainment, sports, status of women and slaves, and a plethora of other information. The ads are amusing and provide insight to the culture. The catchy headlines and short text segments will entice the most reluctant reader. Each page has numerous color illustrations, and there is even an index at the end. It's a great idea. Also in the series are: The Roman News, The Aztec News, and The Egyptian News. -- Children's Literature
