Joe Poonanny's a throwback, a modern day purveyor of the raunchy, bawdy recordings of the '40s and '50s that stereotyped R&B for years. "The Devil's music," as some elders called it, changed by the late '50s when R&B cleaned its image and began selling to the masses. "3 People Sleepin' In My Bed" and "Trashy Women" are the tamest selections; others, however, describe love and sex so descriptively they can only be played when kids aren't present. The titles, including "Meatman," "Out Grindin' The Grindin' Man," "Beat Your Meat," "I Ain't Beggin', I'm Buyin'," and "Rump Ringer," say it all.
