An original novella linked to Jade Lee's hot new Regency bride series, a prequel to What the Groom Wants.

Caroline Lyncott, great grandaughter of the Duke of Bucklynde, has a secret. Years ago she was attacked and still bears the terrible scars. To escape the scandal and the reminders, she left everything behind to become housekeeper to a Scottish brother and sister.

Gregory Murray, the Earl Of Hartfell, has a secret as well – he harbors a deep attraction to his housekeeper, Mrs. Lyncott. He knows she has a past, but doesn't know how to fix the pain that still haunts her. His investigation leads him to the darkest London gaming hell and a villain too powerful to destroy.

Can his love overcome her desperate past? Can she risk her heart despite the evil that still haunts her nightmares?

This story was great! I loved reading about Caroline and Gregory. They made a great couple. I really liked how Caroline was able to overcome her past and remain strong. Also how Gregory made her feel beautiful and confident. The only thing was I wished their story was longer. They were such a sweet couple.

Caroline Lyncott is the great grandaughter of the Duke of Bucklynde, but this family connection is more of a hindrance than a help. She is an educate and talented lady who has never been introduced to polite society. Now she is the housekeeper for Lord Hartfell. To help his sister find a suitor the Lord asks her to become Lady Anne's companion. She agrees. Caroline loves the handsome lord but she has a secret. If it's revealed, what will happen to her? Will she ever find love? Jade Lee has written a well plotted novella that is the prequel to her February release, What the Groom Wants. I love Caroline and Gregory as well as the rest of the delightful supporting characters that Jade has created. Caroline is such a strong willed woman. She has a logical mind that is more than a match for Gregory . The love and the desire between these two is romantic and at the same time very sensual. I love the thread of suspense running through the story. It was impossible to put this book down. Jade Lee is a talented author. I love her writing.

PRETTY GOOD FOR A NOVELLA!!  i don't think the H and h would really get together during this time period - it would have been shocking. There is lovemaking, that was passionate and  described just enough.  The story about our H  sister wasn't resolved to my satisfaction.  Our h had something very sad happen to her and our H handled it very well.  There is HEA, lovemaking, no cliffhanger (other than the sister who is a secondary character).  I enjoyed this unique story on the Regency Period.  (ljb)

Lady Anne Hartfell and her brother Lord Gregory Hartfell are as different as night and day. While Lord Gregory prefers the simple pleasures of life, his sister Lady Anne is all about the occult. Though they are unique, their home is managed by a very secretive woman, Caroline Lynncott. She hides her past to escape it and live a quiet existence. Lord Gregory believes he can see through Mrs. Lynncott to the real her. Will she let him or will she run again? The story is one of strength, love and happiness. It seems so simple, yet it takes a great deal to gain these three items. I enjoyed the solid writing and the characters you can relate to. It did a beautiful job of showing there is more than one side to a person. We must look beyond the facade to see what's really there. Warm and caring, this is a perfect pick-me-up for any time of the day! Ms. Lee doesn't disappoint with this work. You'll love it as much as I did. The only issue I found was the book seemed rushed. Even for a novella, it seemed as though everything took place way to quickly. I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because the story is simply beautiful. ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~

A housekeeper related to a duke but with branded breasts. A lord who is desperately trying to marry off his sister and thus turn her attentions away from a gypsy. When the housekeeper is attacked and her breasts bared so the branding is bared, the lord comes up with a daring plan that affects the future of all three of them. What is it and does it work? Read the book and find out!

I enjoyed reading this novella. It was a quick read, and I wish we could have gotten a little more of Caroline and Gregory's story. I'm sure the rest of the Bridal Favors series is more in depth. I always like a story where the woman of lower social standing falls in love with the lord of the manor. In this case, Caroline is from a noble family, but circumstances have landed her as the housekeeper to the Earl of Hartfell, where she competently manages the household and the squabbling between the earl and his sister. In a bargain neither sibling likes, the sister agrees to partake in a season to find a husband, with Caroline as her companion, if Gregory will hunt for a wife during the season too. The only trouble is, he's already quite taken with his housekeeper. What's an earl to do?

This is my first book by this author, and I liked it. Very likable characters, great chemistry, good storyline for a novella. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
