**SWOON** Another out of the park read from Kiera Cass. She keeps us on the edge of our seats eagerly anticipating The One in 05/14. I LOVED the Guard. It was fantastic. Definitely some super romance and love vibes. I love how the story is told from Aspen's perspective so that you get to see his emotions in conjunction with America's that we see in the Elite. We also get to see his interactions with Aspen on a few of the scenes as well. The Guard was an emotional roller coaster of feels that you embrace along with Aspen. Oh and the BEST part....The excerpt from The One!!! I could not stop laughing at a few of the bits. It was hilariously good! If you haven't read this series you MUST get to the bookstore and pick up the Selection. You won't be sorry. Hurry....before The One comes out in May. You need this series in your life. 5 Stars!

I see Aspen Differently now thanks to reading this. I understand why he did this to America. I'm even torn now with Aspen or Maxon!!! ugh I need to go and re-read the whole series now.

I love the Selection series! Before I read the Guard I was more of a Maxon fan, but now I'm totally torn between him and Aspen. This was a great novella and I'm counting down the days until The On

I love this books series, it is awesome! I really liked this novella because it was from a new perspective, and I also really loved the teaser of the final book installation The One

This book was OK, but it really didn't change my opinion about Aspen, I still hate him honestly (I'm not talking about him breaking up w/ her, I read this after the 2nd book). Let's face it, Aspen is a jerk. I'm not saying that Kiera Cass is a bad writer (she is AMAZING!!!!) but Aspen is just that kind of character, and Mrs. Cass really does a great job of describing his personality. He just pushes America away and then makes an excuse and she loves him again and then he's like I don't know if I can do this America I think you love Maxon and I just want you to be happy and whatever and then he's like all I need is hope and do you still love me America and whatever. It just frustrated me. People say that America was the wishy-washy one in this book, and she was a litte, but mainly it was Aspen. I HATE ASPEN!!!!! HE DROVE ME CRAZY!!! The whole second book I was like crossing my fingers and just hoping that Aspen would get killed in a rebel attack or something. It really would have made things so much simpler between America and Maxon. Anyway, yes, this novella was great, it's just that I just generally don't like Aspen. Thank you Kiera Cass for a great series!!!

This one was ok. Let's face it....we don't care too much about Aspen. It's all about Maxon.

Love any book that goes along with the Selection series. Obviously if you haven't read the Selection you should read the first. This is my favorite series by far with romance and some action the books become hard to put down. Can't wait for The One to come out!

So, I have to admit first of all, that I am Team Maxon all the way. In fact, Aspen kind of annoys me. I feel like he thinks he's "owed" America or that he "deserves" her or even that he has laid claim on her or something instead of earning her love. All that being said, I began to appreciate him more in this novella. So, if you're anti-Aspen and want to stay that way...probably shouldn't read this, but if you are rooting for him...or just WANT to like him, you should definitely pick it up. In this little story, we get to see his side, we see how he is when he's not around America...how he is with her maids for example...which is really sweet. We get to see his thoughts too when he's with her and how he might come across differently than he is inside his head. I'm still Team Maxon, but I'm glad I read this novella and got more insight into Aspen's character.

By now you will be quite familiar with Aspen Leger. The man who first broke America's heart and the main reason she signed up for the selection in the first place. But who is the man behind the sweet words and tender kisses? The man who thought he had nothing to offer. "We know you're strong, but accepting help is its own kind of strength." - Happily Ever After (The Guard) - page 244 There are several scenes that overlap from The Elite in this novella. It was enlightening to see these scenes unfold through Aspen's perspective. Very helpful overall to learn more about his character. It is perfect to read AFTER The Elite.

5 Stars Well I didn't think it was possible to like Aspen but this book made me do it. I wish it would've shown how Aspen came to love Lucy and their relationship though. I never understood just who's much Aspen loved America until I read this story. I thought he just had a small case of puppy love, but in reality he was truly in love with her. Situations being what they are, they fell out of love or perhaps just grew up. I'm glad Aspen and America found love, regardless of who it was with. This story told a different side to Aspen that I think the triology skipped over. Don't get me wrong, I'm still Team Maxon but I don't dislike Aspen as much now. I think this story was a great addition to this series. Well done Kiera.
