I loved this story, I can't say enough about how awesome it was to read. Not only was it well written but the story was fresh, sexy, thrilling, and heart tugging. I need more, there has to be more books for the other characters. Every character was likable which was refreshing. All together it was one of the best paranormal romances I have read. Madelyn and Brady started out as friends or so she thought. Their love story began before she was even born, they were mates meant for each other. Their love was destined and their story was heart-warmingly fantastic. Nevertheless I did want to punch Brady a few times for doubting his bestie/mate, he has known her forever he should have known better she wouldn't cheat on him. This book made me smile, cringe, and even sigh (good sighs) so many times. I highly recommend it, and I really hope Ms. Roth gives us more of these characters.

This book has just the coolest paranormal romance I’ve read in a long time.  There were so many interesting characters, that as a reader, you became hooked!!! Madelyn is a kick-ass only female Guardian in existence, and she is extremely protective of her family and friends. She thinks of them, making her vulnerable in her own special way. Brady, her mate, is much like his counterpart. Both going through their share of shocks, betrayals, and eventually “hooking up”. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, leaving you wanting more with its exciting mix of vampires, werewolves, lycans, and guardians. I highly recommend it to those who love paranormal characters in interesting situations!!!

When fate takes a back seat and the soul chooses… You ever read a book and you are just saying, “Ok wow! I really like this one”? Then you sit down to write the review and you just can’t think what to put down because you don’t want to give away all the plot and if you go into character analysis you might give away spoilers and the plot? And really when it comes down to it the blurb for this one is really right on. So here is my lame attempt to do what the author already did so well. In The Guardian, there are moments of jealousy and moments of betrayal. There are heart-rending moments of recollection and revelation. These are also moments where pieces fall so well together. Things that were mysteries begin to make so much sense for Madelyn. There is absolutely no way anyone could doubt that Brady loves Madelyn and that these two are meant for each other. Perhaps it’s the depth of their love that is in question at times, but never fear you won’t have a doubt by the end. Both Brady and Madelyn are holding out on each other. They both have their secrets. Madelyn is a guardian. She is totally kick ass in a fight whether it’s hand to hand, with weapons or with magic. Her position with the guardians though holds an obligation of secrecy. So, by day she hangs out with her best friend Brady on the set of whatever his latest role in stardom demands and by night she’s out protecting the streets from evil things that go bump in the night. Of course, not all things that go bump in the night are evil and Mads is only after the evil predators that target humans. While the relationship between Brady and Mads might appear light and humorous on the surface, the reality is that it has such depth. Mads loves Brady to the exclusion of all else. It just might take her a while though to realize just how much she loves him. When you add sex to the equation these two can burn down the set with just how hot they are together. Oh and did I mention Brady has a few secrets of his own? I won’t bother telling you just what they are. I mean excuse me, can you say spoiler alert? Let’s just say this is one alpha male that has been hiding his light under the bushel. He’s also been hiding just how much he wants, needs and loves Madelyn. When these two come together in their first kiss all the doors are blown off his restraint. He may appear the playboy star but appearances are so much not reality. Madelyn has been the be all, end all of Brady’s life and she always will be. Put Madelyn in danger and you’ll find out just how alpha he truly is and maybe just a shade stubborn as well. Rounding out the cast are some great secondary characters I’m looking forward to hearing more about in future books in the series. Madelyn has her exes. One she still loves deeply and if you don’t think that will stir up its own issues then think again. However, love sometimes has a way of morphing; what once was becomes something else entirely when you discover the true love of your life. Then there is the current ex, can you say two timing douche? Or is he? Oh and don’t ask me about daddies and big brothers. I totally love ‘em. On the other hand, you have a lineup of petty villains and one nasty mofo that will see this series through quite a few books. The world building is on par for the caliber of writing you can expect from Mandy, excellent. I would definitely recommend this one. I was gifted this book in exchange of an honest review.

The Guardians is such a great book! Madelyn tries to keep what she is from Brady, her best friend and roommate, she doesn't want him to get hurt. But the one thing she doesn't realize about Brady is that he is a werewolf and her mate. The chemistry between the two of them is smokin' hot. You can almost see the steam coming off the pages of the book. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Madelyn Mason is the daughter of a powerful movie producer and so much more. She is the only female Guardian, a force trained to maintain order among the paranormal and keep them hidden. She is not human but much more than her heritage should make her. It is difficult to keep her secret, especially from her roommate and best friend Brady Devens the action movie star. He is insanely hot but treats her like a sister and is the only person who makes her feel safe. Safety is in short supply these days as attacks by rogue Lycans and Werewolves are occurring nightly and even Madelyn does not have unlimited strength. This story is full of action, violence, and hot love scenes. The characters are incredibly well drawn and seem to walk right off the page. No one is exactly who they seem and Madelyn is much much more. There are many surprises in store for the reader. The only fault I could find with this story is that it ended too soon, and I am happy to find out that it will be part of a series, so I can find out what happens to the other characters.

Mandy M. Roth has done it again...A series you WANT MORE OF. Like Yesterday., Madelyn Mia (Maddy) a Guardian , You will discover lots about her, that makes her so special other then being the first ever female Guardian born. Then there is her supervisor Franco, an a few surprises there too. There is Brady (Bradonis)her mate but she doesn't know it , he is her best friend, roommate and he has know her since she was 5. But really a lot longer that he or she doesn't know. Then there is Hudson, a lycan, her ex boyfriend who left because he was told her had a choose mate. But she thinks he left because in a battle she was badly injured and left scared ...but he never new any of that, till he returns 3 years later. Also you will meet Gabriel and Gaston Both who do have connections with Mandy, one to hurt her and one to help and protect her, but an even closer connection to each other. And there is Mia, a goddess. But until the end you won't know all that Franco is, not until Mia tells Maddy. What is Franco's secrets? Who and what is Maddie really ? Will she figure out that Brady is her mate? How will she and Brady react to know that they alone were allowed to choose there own mate years ago, before they ever met.

When I first read the synopsis for the book, I thought “movie star”….really??? I was not expecting this book to be worth the read……….However, this book is GREAT! The story had so many twists and turns; each time I thought I had figured out what was happening….BAM! here comes another twist. Maddy is the first female Guardian responsible for protecting humans from evil and all things that go bump in the night. Her mate (although she is unaware of this) is Brady a full blooded Lycan and a famous movie star. Maddy and Brady are best friends and room together at Brady’s house. Maddy goes to college during the day and is a huntress at night, she is witty, smart and strong and senses danger; although Maddy and Brady are best friends and roommates, she hides the magical side of herself and what she does from Brady thinking he would not understand or accept who she is and she needs Brady in her life to stay sane. The story starts with Maddy and Brady on the set of a movie he is filming. Brady is having a hard time connecting with the lead actress of the movie and during a break, Maddy starts teasing and kissing him. Once Brady takes over and gives her a real kiss, HOLY HOTNESS, the action begins. I loved the secondary characters and can’t wait to read their stories. I don’t want to give away too much about the book because I really want you to read it and enjoy it the way I did. However, three of my favorite scenes in the book is when Maddy is dancing on stage with a stripper pole…..My, My, My……….. My next favorite scene is when something bad happens to Maddy and Brady's reaction, I cried at the emotion he projected and finally the Flashback where it gives you all the history up to the point Maddy became a Guardian; it was funny, sad and heart wrenching to read…. All in all, this is a great book, I loved the ending and immediately started trolling to find out when the next book would be released……………. ***Disclaimer-I was given this book for an honest review***

In this first book of what I am hoping to be a series, we meet Madelyn and Brady. Madelyn, or Maddy is the only female Guardian, or who fights the paranormal bad guys of the world. Brady is a Lycan and someone very special in Maddy's life. The story has a good plot, twists and surprises. It had me laughing in places and anxiously reading to see what came next in others! There was a nice flow and just enough mystery to keep me interested in what was going to happen next! A very well written story. I can't wait to read more!!

***A copy of this book was received in exchange for an honest review*** When reading The Guardians you are quickly wrapped up in a world where werewolves, vampires, Gods and more abound while keeping the humans unaware. The tension experienced throughout the story is spot on for the plot and the pace is what I would consider "just right" for a book of this genre and length. At no time did I feel rushed yet the story did not plod along either; I was able to enjoy the imagery, the action and the storyline as a whole to its fullest. The favorite part of this book though for me was its character. Each one was well-developed and supported their roles completely. Particularly the hero and heroine. The hero was not overly macho nor too dominant; he possessed just the right amount of vulnerability without coming across as a wuss. He is probably one of the best male leads I have come across in a while in regard to his place in the storyline. The heroine...hands down the best in years. Here we do not have a whiny, immature blithering idiot playing at being a wannabe kick-ass guardian of the humans. No, here we have a young woman who is strong-willed, compelled and more than capable of kicking the bad guys asses. Is she stubborn; of course she is but she is one-of-a-kind in a male profession. The vulnerability she displays is there just understated. The love she feels for all concerned is palpable without being thrust in your face every other sentence. Nothing about her or any other character was contrived, they all had their place in the story and upheld it admirably. To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. Would I read it again? That is a resounding "yes" without even thinking twice. Would I recommend it to anyone? No doubt whatsoever, I would recommend it time and time again. Could it be read as a standalone? Perhaps, but why leave it just there? Everything is set for a series and readers would be disappointed if there isn't one. I most definitely will be chafing at the bit until the next book comes out.

Tonya B--Guardians is definitely a book that kept me on the edge with so much going on, the Author demonstrates her talents in making sure the story has the right amount of balance. I COULD NOT put this book down..from the beginning to the end. I kept wondering what’s going to happen. I was emotionally between “yes” and what the “hell” so I just couldn’t stop between chapters…It made for a long night The main characters…I love strong female character and Madelyn fit the role to include sassy and funny. Brady is a loving and patient alpha male who has waited years for his mate. Even the side characters will have you gasping for air. This is the best book I’ve read in a long time…just the right amount of action, suspense, and romance. Oh..and there is a couple of steamy parts that make you wish Brady was your man¿ I really hope there are additional books to follow. Madelyn is a guardian, she protects humans from all sorts of evil things that go bump in the night. Mady is the first female guardian ever born, and is protected above all else. She's carrying hidden scars from an incident that happened three years ago. Mandy just got out of a relationship that ended bad, and is not interested in picking up another one at the moment.

Loved It! This book was great; Madelyn is the only female in a sea of supernatural males. She is a guardian, who was sworn to protect the innocent. She sure has her hands full with all of these different kinds of shifters, vampires, etc. Brady is a Hollywood hunk and knows that Madelyn is his mate. He wants to win her heart any way he can. This book is full of action, humor and sexy men. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

This story starts out simple enough, a hunky famous movie star, Brady, best friends(and wannabe lover) with Maddy who apparently has some magical powers. The story continues to unfold like the layers of an onion compelling you to keep reading and peeling back the layers of the story. This first book of the series introduces us to a melting pot of paranormal characters. There are vampires, Lycans, werewolves, gods and goddesses, demons, sex nymphs, guardians and hybrids of all the above. There is more than one gorgeous sexy alpha hero in this mix that makes it all the more yummy, and of course a kick-ass confident fearless heroine.Wonderful world building and very creative, intriguing histories for all the many characters. Anyone of their stories would make a great sequel. An exciting, adventurous, emotional, sexy, romantic book that will hold you captured with its full cast of paranormal players. Why no voting buttons? true love overcomes and wins over evil. the hero proves his love and makes up for his stupidity -cant wait for book 2 to come out!! ****A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review**** This is such a great book to get lost in. The book starts out with Maddie and Brady on the movie lost- Brady is the Hollywood hunk working for Maddie’s father but he is also Maddie’s roommate. There is just some secrets bubbling under the surfaces and away we go….. that is just how the story gets going.  Maddie is a Guardian, but she has all the hot Guardians wrapped around her finger, even a sex nymph, a Vampire and a Wolf (the head wolf, that it be). Maddie does not know all the powers that she has or all the secrets that surround her or are about her.  There is a centuries old feud, there are wolves, vampires, mates gods & goddesses, The Powers That Be, Guardians and oh so much more! This story had me and still has me enthralled from the get go, a love story lost and a love story saved. So good and keep the Kleenex box handy –the story is THAT good that , that at times, it will bring tears to your eyes.  I hear there is a second story coming out , that is set in this world so keep your eyes open.  Maddie and Brady are a great couple. Love how the author wrote their story!!  My rating: 5 stars *****

Loved it! So many twists, turns and misunderstandings between the heroine and hero.  Ms. Roth always builds the best worlds. As the first book in a new series there are some spots that need further explanation but I can see that being resolved in future books.

I loved this story from page one. I am partial to feisty women with witty dialogue. Madelyn is as snarky with her internal thoughts as well as her conversations. She is a lone female Guardian, those who make sure mortals are not taken out by supernaturals. Maddie knows she has magik, and uses it to protect. She also has a great male friend, Brady who is a hot film commodity. He is a lot more, and he means more to her. While she is attracted she doesn't want to ruin their friendship, a friendship that pushes many boundaries. There is much she doesn't know and circumstances start to require answers that only bring more questions. Fighting the bad guys, using her magik, school all threaten her endurance and makes her vulnerable. She learns that Brady is much more and their relationship is going to change. Old loves come back into her life, family she is didn't know existed. Her life is changing. She is kick-ass. The strength of the uncanny loyalty she engenders with the males in her world surprises them and Madelyn. The fight scenes are vivid and brutal. The steamy scenes could heat all of Alaska for a winter. Don't miss pole dancing sequence and the reaction of all. There is a war coming and all the Guardians must prepare. Can she find her love while all this goes on? Will all the revelations be too much? Ms Roth promises a wild ride in her dedication and she delivers.

This is based on the ebook version:FANTASTIC!!!!! 5 stars WOW!  Where to start?  Should I start with how unique it is?  Or on how great the chemistry is between Mads & Brady?  Maybe on the cool & different ways that the magick works?  Oh!  Or just start off by saying this is one of my FAVORITE books I have read this year?!  I found this book to be oh so hot and sexy!  They use Magick in so unique and cool ways!  I mean to “explain” how something happened, they can just “open” a window so to speak and you can just see it all happen right before your eyes!  It is by this way that Madelyn learns so much about her, it rocked!!!  So many new and different things going on in here that make this a great new fresh addition to the Paranormal World, but more importantly into my “Must Keep to Read Over & Over!” list. I wouldn’t call this a “Dark” anything as it is a fantastic story that is NOT a light, fluffy one, but rather a terrifically deep & intricate story that thankfully takes more than one book to tell!!!!  It has good guys, bad guys & everyone in between.  There is a centuries old feud, there are wolves, vampires, mates gods & goddesses, The Powers That Be, Guardians and oh so much more!  All beautifully woven together into a story that had me hooked right from the start, a love worth fighting for - the kind that you are lucky to find once in a lifetime!  I just love Mandy’s books and the more I read, the more I love her & her books!  It takes a very talented and special kind of author to be able to put so many different characters, situations etc. into one book and be able to make it work.  Mandy not only is capable of this, but does so flawlessly.  Mandy is one of those rare authors that can make you believe that the characters are real people and make you long for it to be true all while she has you fully immersed into the story for so long after you have finished the book that you are still thinking of it and wondering how all of your new friends are doing! All in all – I recommend this book to ANYONE who likes Paranormal, a good story to sink your teeth in to and a great strong cast of characters with a dose of hot stuff mixed in!

AudioBook Review:  Stars:  Overall: 4  Narration: 3 Story: 4 I never quite know what I’ll get with a Mandy Roth title, beyond the smart-mouthed comments and some incredibly hot and sexy scenes, the layering of her characters with otherworldly traits, unique settings and inherent conflicts can be set anywhere: from real-world to outer space. Madelyn and Brady are friends, roommates and absolutely adorable together.  Madelyn is a guardian, protection of the innocents with her not insignificant fighting skills. Brady is the latest Hollywood hot thing, an actor that works for Madelyn’s father.  The only person to know Mady’s secret – Brady is that stand-up guy that you want in your corner, and that is her main reason she isn’t willing to endanger the relationship that they had with sexual games.  But they do, at first, dance to that cliff and back in nearly every interaction. Not only is Madelyn the only woman in guardian’s history – it seems that everyone is keeping secrets from her.  And as kick-ass as she is, and able to manage just about every challenge she faces in her efforts to protect the innocents, she just can’t seem to put all the pieces together. And then, the revelations starting coming fast and furious- and here I thought Mady was a little ‘off’.  Thinking she had to manage it all, and believing that those who ‘knew’ her secret didn’t understand her, when the pieces start to fall in for her, she is far too complacent in her reaction. A temper tantrum, some smart ass comments, even a few punches would have felt better for me. But, this led the story into the well-developed and still transforming relationship between her and Brady, and from the seriously palpable sexual tension that was unfulfilled, we move into some incredibly inventive and steamy moments with plenty of heat and action to spur the imagination. Narration in this story is provided by Sarah Van Sweden. Her tone is pleasant and her speech is clear, and while the performance starts with only small modulations in tone and pacing to delineate each character, those changes became more pronounced as the story progressed and worked to smoothly set Brady and Madelyn separate from the other characters that were introduced.  What I did notice was a decided lack of “performance” in the narration: concise and clear speech is necessary for the listener, but the tiny pauses as each single syllable and word is enunciated ( slowly – I – faced – them ) left me knowing that the text was being read. What that did was add a hiccup in the flow: I understand that careful attention to the written word is important, and clarity in speech is necessary, but the quest to not make errors (when they WILL happen) halts the natural flow of the narration.  What I can say is that during the more action-heavy scenes, she does speed her pace slightly and the hesitations between the words seems to diminish slightly. A fun story, this is a nice introduction into Roth’s work for those not familiar with her writing, and sure to please those who enjoy a paranormal fantasy romance with a bit of heat and a smart-mouthed heroine. I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
