Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
A kind of map to the inter-dimensional "flume" traveled by Bobby Pendragon, Pendragon: The Guide to the Territories of Halla by D.J. MacHale takes readers through the 10 territories "that coexist across time and space, each with its own unique culture and character"-Halla. A description of each territory, cast of characters and illustrated glossary make each land come alive. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
When a fantasy series has already reached its sixth installment with more promised, it is perhaps inevitable for the spin-offs to begin. Thus we are gifted with this book from the "Pendragon" series—a guide to the alternate universe of Halla and its hero Traveler from Second Earth, sixteen-year-old Bobby Pendragon. The slim booklet contains an introduction to the series' main characters (the villain of the piece, Saint Dane, and Pendragon's fellow world-saving Travelers), brief recaps of the first five stories, and lots of colorful, gamer-style illustrations. Peter Ferguson excels in imagining the retro offering set in a nebulous 1930s "First Earth", The Never War. After drawing so many quigs and Eelong creatures it was obviously a pleasure to get down with the Hindenburg and bi-planes. Even though they will find nothing new in its contents, the diehard fans of MacHale's books will probably enjoy this. 2005, Aladdin Paperbacks/Simon & Schuster, Ages 10 to 14.

    Pendragon the Great

I only saw this guide in a store recently, but I HAD to flip through every page. This book is a must-have for any true Pendragon fan. Not only do the books inspire me to read more, but they allow me to escape reality for a while and follow the adventures of one of today's top heroes! This guide gives a thorough account of each of Bobby's adventures, and shows (with pics!!) what all of the gadgets and things look like. I would definitely recommend this book! Go out and get it now!!!

    THE GREATEST IN HALLA!!!

Reading the best stories ever made, by D. J. MacHale, is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've Always, no matter how many times I've read them, been gripping the edge of my seat and chewing my nails down, and getting teary-eyed at the sad parts, and even alot of things supprise me, even though I've already read them. I'd read them a thousand times and never get tiered of them.Tey're the best. Actually they're beyond words discription. D. J. MacHale has totally inspired me. He's my all time idol!!!! I PRAIZE him!!!! He has such a sweet imagination that I could never match up to. If I were to rate the books 1-10 it would be 11. I can never get my mind from the books. I always talk and think about them. I can't wait to read the three following books!!!! My older sister, Ellen, got me to read them a year ago. Her first thing to tell me about it was how Bobby said 'Yo.' to Courtney and he felt stupid for saying such a lame thing. I got it messed up and thought it was real and he said it to a girl in school. Then way later she told me about the book(the first one) up to where she was, as she was only in the middle, and told me every part. I laughed and told her what I thought about the 'Yo.' thing. I was pretty intrested in the books. But at first I wouldn't read them. Then when I did I was comepletly hooked and finished the first within three days. Then I borrowed the next from the library. Then all the rest I zoomed through. I fell deeply in love with them. And sense I was the only one around to know about them I had no one to talk to about them and the deep mystries, so it was really hard. So I went on the web site and really enjoyed talking about them and discovering more about them. Anyway, I just LOVE Pendragon. They're the best that there could ever be.

    Turn on the Reading

Pendragon makes reading greater than any other entertainment. The books come alive with the voice of Matt,Courtney, Bobby and St. Dane. Wow! They just keep getting better. They are especially great for 11 and 12 year olds, boys and girls. Once you get started, you will be hooked. Totally unique!
