    Pretty good

Its a pretty good book for beginners but much of it is - well not thorough, and since I have almost no contact with other guitarists, this book made it a bit harder for me. Worth the time to read it though, and is one of the better books Ive seen.

Good book for a beginner with zero previous knowledge

This book reads more like an apologist novel than an instruction manual, including testimonials and reasoning behind the nomenclature involved with guitar. Some of the instruction is a bit vague, particularly when it comes to more complex subjects - such as scales and chord progressions. There is a good dictionary-type section in the back that illustrates all the chords a beginner would need to know. Overall, the book supplies ample material in a wide scope, ranging from electronic configuration to explanation of musical styles to maintenance and repair. I would certainly recommend it, though it is lacking in some areas.
