Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
A comprehensive look at guitars, guitar music, and guitar players, this nicely designed book with a foreword by Eric Clapton manages to do all three things well. Guitar historian Chapman (The Complete Guitarist) covers the origins and evolution of the guitar as a versatile instrument and the most striking artists and styles associated with its use, e.g., Chuck Berry and his "freewheeling, three-chord driving boogie" approach. Also included are many vintage and modern photographs of instruments and players and a variety of musical notation with well-known guitar phrases and memorable song hooks. This fine, all-around history will appeal to readers of all levels. Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
