Chief Godfrey is the storyteller, historian, and tour guide deeply rooted in the Gullah Geechee culture of Charleston, South Carolina. Raised on the very slave auction block where his ancestors were once sold into slavery, and still today his family works on the same Block seven days a week. Chief Godfrey carries the weight of history within him. He founded Godfrey's Gullah Geechee Tours, offering a unique perspective on the city's rich Black American History, from its Israelite roots to the resilience of the Gullah Geechee people.

Chief Godfrey's life began dramatically. Born on the brink of death, he was brought to Charleston, the "Holy City," where the legendary Gullah Geechee root doctor, Dr. Buzzard, intervened, saving his life. This early brush with the mystical and the profound has shaped his worldview. His book, "Gullah Geechee: The Blood Root to Charleston's Slave Trade & Redemption," explores the deep connection between his people, their history, and the land of Ancient Tamerica, Egypt.
