Editorial Reviews

Jewish Book World
The first Jewish Gothic time-slip fantasy is set during Susan's one-week Hanukkah vacation to her great-aunt's home in the English countryside. It involves Susan's developing awareness of her Jewish identity after her nightly encounters with children who had lived in this lonely English manor house set in the moors, 50 years prior. One is Hanni, a Jewish refugee, another is Alex, an antisemitic stepson, and a third is the gardener's helper, Jamey. A satisfying story and an interesting take on Hanukkah combined with the Holocaust and prejudice.
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
As Susan attempts to right an old wrong, communicating with the three young ghosts at Wimsley Hall, the home of her Great-aunt Elizabeth. Susan learns a lot about herself and her Jewish heritage as she helps one young ghost named Hanni. Finally, Susan she discovers the truth about Hanukkah: it is a time of miracles, and out of darkness can come the brightest light.
