A God centered guide to marriage for new husbands.

Getting married requires a license but no test. If there were a test required The Happy Husband's Handbook would be a good choice for a study guide. The Happy Husband's Handbook, geared toward men, takes the reader on a guide to all of the pit-falls and struggles of married life. Special attention is paid to helping men understand how their wife thinks and feels. The handbook lays out strategies on how to avoid, confront, and conquer every barrier to a happy, peaceful, and successful marriage. Sly Fleming lays out his book in 10 chapters, each with its own unique theme and 'commandment'. Sage advice such as 'Don't go to bed angry', 'Have a life and keep it yours', and 'Win the war not every battle' set the theme for each of the 10 chapters. Fleming does an excellent job expounding on each command/strategy through example, parable, and humor. At the end of each chapter are a list of appropriate lessons to remember, things to do, and Bible scriptures to read. The Happy Husband's Handbook is written from a strong Christian perspective while not being too preachy. The book is appropriate for both men and women of all ages, and can even be read together as a couple. The Happy Husband's Handbook has a similar feel to Who Moved My Cheese? (Spencer Johnson), only more direct. The Happy Husband's Handbook is a quick read which can also serve as a reference guide for husbands to refer to throughout their marriage.
