Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Livon is a psychic medium, with 25 years on the job, who wants to reassure people that their late loved ones are doing alright in the great beyond, and that each one of us has inherent psychic abilities to confirm this fact, if we'd awaken our intuition and maintain an open mind. Through a series of anecdotes and personal revelations, Livon wends a convincing story of solace and empowerment, without flogging her business overmuch or devolving into New Age platitudes. She also provides some practical advice and background, including the "psychic code" and the role of corporate psychics ("intuitive coaches"). Livon's grounded approach to extrasensory phenomena will fascinate and rededicate those who already believe, but presents a solid and measured discussion that may give skeptics reason to reconsider.

Library Journal

Like many psychic mediums who write books, Livon begins with the retelling of her unhappy "I see dead people" childhood and how she came to terms with her special gifts, fell in love, got married, and started making a living as a medium. Yawn. But then she shifts into explaining that even though most of us don't do what she does, because, after all, we don't see dead people as she does, we are still born with natural intuition. To help us enhance our intuition, she provides some "tools and techniques," which are mostly explanations of what she does. Which brings us to the point: this book is about Livon and what she thinks, feels, remembers, sees, and hears, in writing that is more like the stream of consciousness of a party guest who loses his or her place in the midst of telling an amusing anecdote. VERDICT Any intuition training that actually made it to the page of this book is neither inspired nor particularly useful for us mere mortals. Livon may be a great medium, but a great writer she ain't. Give this one a pass.—Janet Tapper, Western States Chiropractic Coll., Portland, OR

    I Also Recommend:

    I love this book title.

While out surfing the BN website looking for a book offering guidance with my intuition I came across the Happy Medium. I understand from reading the other reviews Jodi Livon is from Minneapolis and if I remember right I have seen her in Rake Magazine talking about the Intuative Coach, her business, which offers insight and guidance to people so they can tune into their own intuition.

Unlike the editorial review given by Ms Tapper I look forward to reading about Jodi's life experiences as a Psychic Medium, how she got to where she is and the challenges she has faced and overcome. With any luck I'll learn something from her that I can apply to my own situations.

    Corporate psychic

I own a business in the Midwest and have hired Jodi Livon as a corporate psychic on an annual basis for the past ten years. Her work is outstanding. It's astonishing how accurate she's been about predicting upcoming trends in my industry. I'm looking forward to recommending The Happy Medium to my colleagues.

    Sound writer and medium!

Twenty years ago, I happened upon a really sound psychic. I heard she wrote a book and checked out this website to find it. The Happy Medium looks like a sound book. I know that the info Jodi gave me during my reading proved to be strangely accurate.

    Better tuning into my senses

I just finished reading the review that Ms. Tapper has written about this book and needed to take some time to process my thoughts. My first reaction was that of being defensive, not for Ms. Livon, her life, her process, or the book....but for ME and MY approach towards life.

After digesting Ms. Tapper's thoughts, I have come to realize that her reaction is not about the book, how it was written, Jodi Livon, not even the subject matter itself, but how open Ms. Tapper is to the concept of intuition and trust.

I have spent over 45 years of life going through struggles, like we all do. However I have come to learn that when I am most in tune with my instincts and willing to trust in them, I can avoid unnecessary pain in my life, my relationships, and my career.

I strongly urge anyone who is open to tuning in to their own instincts (your sixth sense) that you take the time to read "The Happy Medium" and clear the path so you can hear what your own protective voice is telling you.

    Great book title

I heard about a local corporate psychic who wrote a book called Happy Medium. While I was browsing the Barnes and Noble website and looking for a gift for my mom I found the book. What a beautiful book cover, the author has an inviting smile. I know my mom will love this and I can't wait to dive in myself.
