Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Born in North Carolina, Matt and Jeff Hardy dreamed of one day becoming professional wrestlers. They even went so far as to make their own homemade ring out of a trampoline. They practiced tricks and moves, and formed their own wrestling group called OMEGA. They performed at fairs, eventually catching the eye of promoters. These are just a few of the facts related in this title in the "Pro Wrestlers" series. Author Kaelberer includes a great amount of detail in this title on the "Hardy Boyz," as Matt and Jeff are known in professional wrestling ranks. While there is a good amount of information included in this book, the writing is flat and seems to just be a recitation of the Hardy brothers' careers. One well-written area is the focus on these two wrestlers not only as a tag team but as people. Kaelberer includes bits about the Hardys' lives outside the world of wrestling. As of this review, the Hardy brothers have somewhat disappeared from the world of wrestling, but their impact is still memorable in the world of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). Photographs and small information windows help readers follow the details of Jeff's and Matt's wrestling lives. This book is a good resource for any early or reluctant reader who is interested in the world of professional wrestling. 2004, Capstone Press, Ages 10 to 15.
