Overview

Communing with spirits has been both gift and curse to Emme Walters. Now it's made her a killer's target. Emme knows why the Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh invited her to a house party--to investigate whether the duke, Rhys Brammel, murdered his wife years ago. But Emme never imagined she would fall in love with the brooding duke.

Branded by society as a possible killer, Rhys is suspicious of Emme and her alleged "gift." Then a late night encounter creates awareness of her other, more attractive, aspects. When Emme's life is threatened, Rhys becomes her protector. Emme and Rhys find passion and peril as they join forces to solve the mysteries at Briarleigh.

She made him believe in spirits, but can she make him believe in love?

Holy hell. Can I give this book six stars? Paranormal meets Historical plus romance?

I haven't read many novels that fall under the Regency category, but after enjoying this one so much and being very intrigued, I will have to pick up some more! That is, after I get my hands on book two in this series!

Well written, engaging and exciting read! This is a real page turner that will grip you from beginning to end.
Close Encounters of The Night Kind - Nikki McCarger
I really enjoyed this book. It was an accurate historical with some incredibly naughty and erotic sex scenes, which I absolutely loved. The characters were complex and jaded, each one harboring a wealth of pain and deep set emotional scars. The plot was brilliant. Every time you thought you were on the right trail to figuring it out, believe me you'll be wrong. The emotions throughout the book were gripping and heartfelt. I was in denial myself and the twist at the end quite threw me.

This was a good book I liked it alot and I will read more of this author. The only complaint I have is when u read some chapters you get confused because she goes back to past and future so quickly you thjnk you have missed reading pages. That I didn't like. Or at least she should have dated that part. Great mystery tho. I recommend it

The story kept me glued to each chapter. Just when I thought I figured out who did it I was wrong!

Wonderful book and series. Strong characters, twisted story line, and the supernatural make a winning combination. It was a free offer and I am usually disappointed, but this was so good I bought the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes I just can't believe the story is fiction, as I shed tears over the words. The only thing that could make this better would for the story to be longer. I had been leaning to the Aunt as the murderer yet the ending was a surprise. Great writing. I have started the next one. Thanks

Reviewed by: Crystal Book provided by: Publisher Review originally posted at Romancing the Book When I read the blurb of this book I knew that I just had to read it. I was not disappointed with this book. It was all that I was expecting and more. I got to go on a great adventure. I got several stories all wrapped into one. There was a great historical story that had the hot passion that I love and it also had the paranormal element of ghosts. And there was also some suspense. Rhys was a strong man. He didn’t want to believe in anything that he couldn’t see. He has been burned by his wife that died several years ago and he basis everything on that experience. He just can’t explain the feelings that he has for Emme. Emme knows about all the gossip that goes on about her. She never wants to be known for seeing ghosts. She just wants a normal life. She knows that Rhys doesn’t trust her but the feelings that she gets when she is around him is something that can’t be ignored. I enjoyed the adventure that the author took me on. I was pulled into all directions and never knew what would happen next. Every time that something else happened, I was surprised. Not only did the living have a great story line, the dead did too. I am trying to come down from this big high that I am on. I was left wanting more. I hope that the author will give some of the other characters their own stories. I was really wanting to know more about them. I was glad that I took the chance on a new author and read something a little different. I wouldn’t recommend this book if I didn’t enjoy it so much. Take a chance and become a fan of Chasity Bowen.

Would have been much better if the pages were in order. There were three chapters that were the same. A lot of things out of order.

The story has promise but the nook version is missing chapters. Or the story line is just poor and beyond hope. It's hard to tell. The parts that are there were enough to keep going for a while. I gave up at chapter 7.

I enjoyed the book thoroughly! The only thing I joined was that an earlier excerpt was on page 209 and the towards the end of the book. Wierd?

Great Took a little to get into it but glad I stuck with it. Well written, great characters, both those you love and hate. I'm not into ghosts stories usually but this murder/mystery was great. The romance and passion a great bonus.
