Children's Literature - Nancy Garhan Attebury
On a warm, sunny day Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma hop into their mystery machine and head to the marina to catch the Ruby Princess for a pirate cruise. The cruise is to take them from the marina to Pirate Cove for a day of fun. However, Sassy Sal, a beach vendor, makes them uneasy before they even board the ship. Rough pirate characters and a strange couple from the cruise add to their unease. Mystery and intrigue follow when they find out an actual treasure may be hidden on the island. But suddenly Daphne goes missing, so the friends work together to find her and to solve the real mystery of Pirate Cove. This action-packed adventure book is a fast read with likeable characters that kids already know. The steps play out chronologically to help young readers follow along and come to their own conclusions about the mystery. Nine short chapters hold the attention of readers and pencil illustrations are scattered throughout every chapter. Add this reasonably priced book to libraries and homes to get kids to read for fun. Book three in the "Scobby-Doo! Mystery" series. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury

Book Review: By: Brittany Perez (Oh My Bookness) This is the first book I bought from the Scooby Doo! Mystery Series , but purchased a book previously from the You Choose Stories: Scooby Doo , I find these stories a good concept, I used to get them from Scholastic when I was in school. I always couldn't wait for the beginning of each month when we got place out orders for books. Scooby Doo! The Haunting of Pirate Cove #3, is about Shaggy and Scooby Doo going on a sea voyage aboard the Ruby Princess. The gang goes on a Treasure Hunt, but trouble follows when Daphne is kidnapped!  Could there be a real pirate treasure or another hoax being played on the Gang.... When you begin reading you go into it with certain expectations, the characters true to their origins, a well developed plot and storyline, not over doing their natural nature. In Scooby Doo! Mystery #3,The Haunting of Pirate Cove , as we all know Shaggy and Scooby are naturally "scaredy cats" but in this book Iam surprised they were even able to function. They took it to another level that did not feel like the characters anymore. Fred and Velma are the ones that keep it cool order to get the mystery solved. Through the story Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Velma and Daphne were scared beyond pure fright without a clear resolution.
