Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Judy Silverman
Not much modern-day excitement happens here, but Caroline Rose and her sister Ivy climb a ladder, play on a rope swing, and help care for a "barnful" of animals. They even get out their sleeping bags and spend the night in the barn. The text is gentle, good easy reading. The illustrations by Plum show real-life children in real-life situations, and for a nice change, they don't always look pretty.
School Library Journal
K-Gr 3-An attractive beginning reader. Sisters Caroline Rose and Ivy enjoy summer on their farm, especially time spent in their favorite spot--the hayloft. It's a great place to play, rain or shine, and seems like the perfect place to spend the nightif you don't mind spiders, mice, and bats. The realistic watercolor-and-gouache pictures are lively, well placed, and help set the mood for the different episodes. These siblings are appealing characters who really have fun together, even when it's scorching hot. This book is right on target for newly independent readers come summer, fall, winter, or spring.Gale W. Sherman, Pocatello Public Library, ID
