Overview

Jade always knew she was different and she always knew there was a special someone waiting for her. She hadn't known he would be four hundred years old--or a vampire.

Barlaam had waited for centuries for his Rajni--his destined mate. He never expected it to be some human girl who was barely twenty-one!

The only honorable thing for him to do was step back and give her a few more years--maybe a decade--before he staked his claim!

But that's not what Jade wants...

He might be resistent, but Jade was unstoppable.

He was hers, and she would have him!

Meet the Author

Who is Calle Jaye Brookes?

Calle Jay is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).

Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?

In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!

Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.

She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.

She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.

They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.

I wish there was a warning that this is part of a series, or it seems that way. This is the first novella I have read by this author so I had no background to the story. It was like an information dump with all the character names and situations. It would have been nice to have a lead in to this story. Could not enjoy, sorry.

This is a novella. 24 pages nice clean story, but get the " Captive by night" book to read first to get the background of the people .

I like this series of books. The stories I find refreshing, because it gives you a break from the more intense kind of reading. I find the characters sweet and consider the plots light hearted! Again, just wish they were longer!

Barlaam has been in the background throughout the series and has intrigued me on a few occasions. Brother to the king and a healer. He is a bit shocked to find his mate in yet another of the Taniss women. She's too young, she's too distracting and she's pursuing Barlaam hard core. Jade has only been mentioned up until now. She's shockingly insightful about non-humans and knows that he is hers. I liked her spit fire attitude. She's also young enough that she jumps to conclusions without actually talking to Barlaam. Once Barlaam is willing to give up his worries, he proves to be every bit of the loving, protective man that Jade could ever hope for. All read

Not as well done as the other books. Would of loved to have more pages. Like even making it 100 or so. Just giving more information like the other books. Love this series though!!!

Good but Cliffhanger ... TBC books are not for me. Sometimes, I can find the 2nd half of a TBC quickly and sometimes, it just takes too long.
