Overview

New York Times bestselling author Janet Chapman welcomes her fans back to Spellbound Falls, where no one is immune to the magical powers of love…

Originally from the ancient mythical island of Atlantis, Nicholas has spent the last year deep in the mountains of Maine, serving as Director of Security for the Nova Mare and Inglenook resorts. Fully embracing his life in the twenty-first century, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to a trouble-prone employee, and is determined to keep her safe.

The last thing Julia Campbell needs is a man with a hero complex, especially one as handsome and imposing as Nicholas. All she has to do is keep it together until her younger sister turns eighteen, and then she can focus on her own life. But strange things have been happening at the resort—and it’s Nicholas who keeps coming to her rescue. When Nicholas is suddenly the one in trouble, Julia realizes he’s not quite what he seems—and that she’ll do anything to help the man who’s stolen her heart…

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Chapman’s engaging fourth Spellbound Falls novel (after Courting Carolina) pairs up Nicholas, an Atlantean who’s now director of security for the exquisite and magic-drenched Nova Mare resort, and Julia Campbell, a quiet, pretty housekeeper at the resort. After Nicholas steps in to protect Julia from her bullying brother, he’s impressed by her strength of character and fierce loyalty. While a career upgrade increases Julia’s financial security as well as her confidence, she cannot fathom why Nicholas, the most eligible bachelor in town, is attempting to woo her. As the chemistry between Julia and Nicholas heats up, Julia resists forging a stronger connection until she realizes that the magic she senses could be real. Life-and-death struggles between magic-wielders force her to stretch her imagination and decide how much she will risk for love. Fans will find this a satisfying addition to the series. (Mar.)

Heart of a Hero was charming and heartwarming, full of friendship, love and in this case a herd of extremely cheeky cats!” ~ Under the Covers

Nicholas, originally an Atlantian but now working as Director of Security in Nova Mare, can face down Roman legions and angry gods but somehow is having trouble keeping safe one stubborn 21st century woman. Julia Campbell doesn’t need Nicholas, the most eligible bachelor around, to be her hero not only will she risk all the single women in Spellbound Falls pushing her off the nearest mountain but she has had her heart broken and her reputation ruined once she refuses doing it again…no matter how tempting he is.

What I like about Janet Chapman’s books are her characters, they are always so warm and easy to like; Julia was no different, she comes from a troubled background and I loved seeing her bravery and determination to make her own life and her siblings life’s better. As for Nicholas…he had me at six and half feet tall, maybe it is because I am quite tall but having a hero that I could potentially climb like a tree is a big YES for me!

If you are after a fast paced and exciting book this probably isn’t for you, this more like a slow romantic stroll through a meadow rather than a mad dash through rocky terrain. Although there was a small amount of action, this was mostly about Nicholas and Julia’s path to their own happily ever after.

Like all Janet Chapman books Heart of a Hero was charming and heartwarming, full of friendship, love and in this case a herd of extremely cheeky cats! I recommend you give this series a try.

The long awaited story of Nicholas! This story made you feel that you were right there with Nicholas and you wanted to make sure he finally fell in love with the women he was supposed to. Since Nicholas isn’t sure what he wanted or what his future held for him, this story took you along for the ride with him. Julie is a woman after my own heart… She is feisty and she does what she has to do for herself and her family, and she has to look into her own heart to know that she can love again. The entire gang is back in this book, love seeing them all back in this story, I just love this “FAMILY”. Can’t put this book down…. A MUST READ! We all love Nicholas and this story lived up to it again!

Highly recommended! It was a great read!

I've read almost all of this series. Whether this is your first Janet Chapman or your 10th I think you'll like this story. The characters are realistic and yet the magic is believable with a sorcerer and time travel somehow that fit right in. Even with magic the characters still have challenges to overcome. If you want a break from reality and a chance to believe in more than what you can understand you won't be sorry.

    She did it again

Janet Chapman did it again. The people in her books are as real as her talent. I am always grateful the world in her head is being shared with the rest of us in the written word. Janet, you are a 10 star soul. Anything with your name on it is an automatic addition to my library.
