I know the story of Billy the Kid, but this is certainly news to me. I was lucky enough to hear the author do a presentation at a Historical Library in Roswell, New Mexico and I have to tell you the research was in-depth and fascinating. I also very much believed the story. Read this. If you're a history buff, Billy the Kid fan or enemy, romantic at heart, or macho and love that Wild West feeling - this one is definitely for you. My only question is how long until a foray into the next Southwestern historical legend is released.

You read alot of reviews with these words - but I think after 50 years of reading and 25 years working as a librarian - I have finally found the Greatest Love Story Ever Told. I don t think I've cried at the end of a book ever. Movies, yes- Books, no. Excellent tale.

I have to tell you - there have been many books written about Billy the Kid and I was hesitant to read yet another - but this is fantastic. The story is told from Paulita Maxwell's point of view and the way the author walks you through the mystery as she answers all your questions is incredible. Finally, an explanation I can live with - and I ve never wanted to visit New Mexico before as much as I do now. The visuals are beautiful.
