The Heart of Dog includes Durgin's various backlist dog stories, and that's all it was initially meant to include--until her dog-loving writer friends heard about her need to fund expensive veterinary treatment for her beloved young companion and dog sports partner, ConneryBeagle. In short order, the book filled out with nine more stories, all from wonderful authors.

The stories encompass a range of genres and moods--plenty of humor, plenty of sweetness and satisfaction, and above all, a profound understanding of the Heart of Dog.

Connery himself has been on social networking since the day he left the litter, and is on Twitter, LiveJournal, and FaceBook as "ConneryBeagle."

Meet the Author

Doranna's quirkiness of spirit has led to an eclectic publishing journey, spanning genres over 30 novels to include mystery, SF/F, action-romance, paranormal, franchise, and a slew of essays and short stories.

Beyond that, mostly she still prefers to hang around outside her New Mexico mountain home with the animals, riding dressage on her Lipizzan and training for performance sports with the dogs. She doesn't believe so much in mastering the beast within, but in channeling its power. For good or bad has yet to be decided...

Along with the occasional original, these NookBooks are author presentations of favorites once found on bookstore shelves.

    Dog Lover Paradise

Nobody writes dogs as well as Doranna. She understands their boundless joy, their loyalty and their worries so well she can make you believe that you are a dog. In this anthology, she's collected her best dog stories as well as terrific dog stories from other fabulous authors like Tanya Huff, Julie Czerneda, and Jennifer Roberson.
