The Heart of Elvis
As a child, I dreamed of someday riding a spirited Arabian. I had no idea that a dependable little Missouri Fox Trotter (nicknamed Elvis) had other plans.
Owning horses was on the back burner of life as I raised children, developed a career in the movie-theatre business, and shared dreams with my life partner, Darrell. When the children left home, I suddenly had the time to explore my passion of horses. Living in rural Wyoming, I had the perfect setting to take up a few four-legged pets.
Over the span of fourteen years, Jake’s Elvis J would redefine what I thought it took to become a horseman. Through many humorous trials and errors, we learned together. In this journey Elvis also touched the hearts of many others, developing the collection of stories that are shared here.
From homelife , to trail, to training in the arena and finally performing in the show ring, Elvis adapted in his usual, competent style. These tales show the indomitable spirit that makes up the Missouri Fox Trotter and creates an all-around family friendly, versatile horse.

About the Author

After a long, eventful life of travel, raising kids, and chasing careers, Robynn Gabel decided to settle down and pursue her dream of writing. With a varied background of medical, business, convention organizing and managing movie theatres, she wanted to share some of her adventures through her first love, writing. As a child, the classics fueled her addiction of literature with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack London and Tolkien being among some of her favorites. She moved on to Science Fiction and from there to Romance. Being a shy child, her first foray into the world of writing were the notes and stories she wrote to communicate to her mother throughout her childhood years. Now, she reads anything she can get her hands on, which is why she loves the world of the Indie Author. Robynn decided to emulate her literary heroes with her first humble attempt at writing. Since she lives in the wilds of Wyoming, she decided to base her first novel on what she knows best, the lifestyles of the West. Romance is always popular, so she tried to capture the unique flavor of Wyoming in her book, Windswept Hearts. Robynn Gabel has done many other short story projects that can be read for free on BookRix.com. Currently she's working on a love story/sci-fi thriller based on the power of a group of autistic people. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read her work.
