Jana DeLeon is witty, humorous and a fabulous story teller. The Helena Diaries comes after the first three books in the Mudbug Series. Starting with Trouble in Mudbug, where you first meet Helena, and oh yes, she's a ghost and you will never find haunting more Hilarious. Then Mischief in Mudbug and Showdown in Mudbug. The Helena Diaries, gives you a humorous insight into Helena's side of the story, what she is thinking, what she was thinking, and just what troubles a clumsy ghost can get into. Why isn't there a book on how to be a ghost anyway? That too is part of the humor. You will love this book.

The brothers fought constantly over Ursula, as she watched them with amusement in her startling eyes. The witch Aliatha saw all of this and was displeased with Ursula. So Aliatha did what all witches in her position do: She put a curse on them. The witch lured the two men to her house, saying she needed help, and since the brothers were nothing, if not gentlemen, they could not deny an elderly woman help. For coming to her so eager to do something nice, out of the kindness of their hearts, Aliatha took pity on them. She made Alec an immortal, who desired blood and had heightened speed, senses, and strength. She made NiKoli an immortal as well, who suffered great tempers and would turn into a very large wolf, who was as fast and strong as his brother, with senses as heightened as the other, normal wolves did. Thus, the first vampire and werewolf was created. After this she called upon Ursula. Since Ursula was very vain and selfish, the old lady took the form of a powerful and rich woman of great stance and invited the young girl for tea. Ursula came to call upon the lady at once, wearing an expensive silk dress made of a deep purple color. The witch was angry at the other's shallowness and decided to make the curse worse then she had first planned. Aliatha made the girl as ugly and cruel as she was on the inside, out. The girls lively hair turned dull and flat. Her sparkling eyes were made a regular, unrecognizable brown. Nothing about the girl was remarkable, nothing about her stood out. But that was only half the curse. Aliatha also said that one day, a girl from her lineage would be born, as beautiful as Ursula had been. "This girl," she said to Ursula. "would have a kind heart and would feel empathy for those around her. She would have a shimmering star on her brow. The two men, no longer mere mortal men, would love her. And they shall tear her apart." But one thing everyone knows about witches and there curses, they never turn out as planned. (Continued at rez 5)
