Native Americans originated from Phoenicians (Tyrians) and lost tribes of Israelites according to author George Jones in his 1843 book "The History of Ancient America.
Relying on Humboldt's View and Monuments and other historical works, Jones argues that in 332 BC the Phoenicians built temples, pyramids, and cities in Central America.
In noting his sources of research Jones notes that "no Author, sacred or profane, from the first Lawgiver to the present time, having even a remote reference to the Western Hemisphere, has been knowingly omitted."
About the author:
George Jones (1810-1879) was born in London and immigrated to Boston at the age of six. In 1828 at Boston's Federal Street Theatre he started his acting career, becoming manager of the Marshall Theatre in Richmond in 1839. Jones was admitted to practice law in New York around 1865 and lectured across the U.S. and Europe.
