Overview

Another erratic if basically worthwhile collection of Northwest '60s rock. There are a couple of hits (Paul Revere's "Kicks," Ian Whitcomb's "You Turn Me On"), but the rest is given over to obscurities by the likes of Don & the Goodtimes, the Bards, the Kingsmen, and the Springfield Rifle, as well as little-known tracks by Revere and the Sonics. Much of this is surprisingly unremarkable pop-rock; even the Sonics' 1968 cover of Frank Zappa's "Any Way the Band Blows" isn't as weird as you might expect. The primitive raga-rock of the New Yorkers' "Mr. Kirby" is more satisfying, and quite a curiosity, considering that most of the group would end up in the Hudson Brothers in the 1970s.
