The Holistic Kitchen: Recipes from the Lds Holistic Living Conferenceby Amy Cox Jones, Julene Bateman
What if you aren't a raw foodist, but you want to try out some stellar raw recipes? Or what if you enjoy vegan or vegetarian meals, but aren't committed to living that lifestyle one hundred percent? Thinking about reducing gluten in your diet, but maybe you're nervous and want to be sure what you're making will taste great? And where's the cookbook for natural remedies?
The Holistic Kitchen has it all! Quit flipping from the vegetarian cookbook, to the raw cookbook, and then on to your herbal texts. It's all right here in your hands!
This cookbook is a compilation of recipes gathered from attendees of the LDS Holistic Living Conference. They are the contributors' best, tried and true recipes and are sure to please. While the recipes can swing from cooked food with animal products to raw vegan, one thing is consistent - whole, quality food with the intent to keep you healthy and happy. The recipes within provide a lot of variation and choice!
LDS members are admonished to live and follow the Word of Wisdom, which advises to eat food in its season, eat meat sparingly and only in times of winter or famine, make grains the staple of our diet, and to use and consume wholesome herbs. Additionally we are warned to avoid alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and tea (but not herbal infusions!). We are promised that in doing so, we will find good health and "hidden treasures of knowledge".
LDS or not, we believe that this promise is available to everyone who follows the precepts of the Word of Wisdom and we hope that this unique cookbook will aid any and all on this journey!
