I was really impressed with this book - good story, nasty villains, sympathetic and flawed characters, and no glaring grammatical errors. Unlike many reviewers, I enjoyed the backstory of each character, since understanding motivation made the action that much more important. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Suprisingly found it interesting. At first i thought it to be cheesy, but the more i read, the more i became sucked in....i enjoyed this book. Ready for the next one.

Love this series! It is one of my favorites & is brilliantly written. The author brings each character to life and it will keep you on edge the whole way through! The only downside is, I am dying to read the next one & it's not finished yet..of course, I'm not one to have pacience!lol

Though the charactors were interesting there was way too much backstory... they might as well have been the name of this book. I found myself skipping alot simply because at a certain point i got very bored of every charactors life history.

I loved this book and felt that it was very well told, it showed vivid pictures and the characters were realistic. I would read this book many times and it will never get old

I wouldnt say this book was great but it is good. Hate how it ended, think the book has a little too much unneccesary details. Could've left out alot and completed the whole book and not had to have a part 2. At times it will bombard you with too many characters which you can easily mix up and forget who was who.

Life is too short to read bad books.

This book was different (in a good way) from other vampire type books. The world is a much different place where the leaders and the richest of our society are controlled by small vampire clans. The setting is a private school where during their senior year one girl will be chosen by a series of contests to become an immortal. They are called the girls in black and it is their choice to enter. Win and a world of power and wealth is yours. If you lose...you die. This year one of the contestants is not who she seems to be. This series is a great read, however it's written for girls...sorry guys. Jp

I hope this book was self published, otherwise the agent/editor needs more practice. This isn't the worst book, but it spends way too much time getting to the plot. The world isn't complex enough to warrant an entire book just setting it up. Got it for free, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

The idea had so much promise- billionaire teenagers engaged in high school battle for true immortality. All wrapped up with vampires and conspiracy theories. Mean girls with fangs. Unfortunately, the briefing is better than the novel. The writing is dull and unartistic, the characters are all morally craven and the vamps just not sexy or horrendous enough. The concept is excellent, but the execution literally killed the story.

This book has so much back story that I got bored and couldn't finish even half the book.

Took a long time to explain things. Very slow but entertaining when bored

Over 150 pages of back story that should have been shortened. It read like it was going to be a good story, once it got to it but got tired of waiting and quit reading it.

It is interesting, but some of the characters are a bit...unusual I think you will find the plot unpredictable and be surprised

The concept was interesting, but the author felt that he had to brow-beat you into drawing the right conclusions about his characters. Long-winded explanations broke up any type of pace or tension that he had set. The main action in the book only took about 4 hours, so it almost felt like watching unedited home movies.

I used all my high praise descriptive terms already in an email to the author. Whenever evidence requires it I submit constructive criricism. However, in this instance there was need. A totally enjoyable and engrossing read! On to book #2! Dale M. Baranoski

Awesome character evolvement. Enjoyed backstory filling in characters, is important to the story line. I know im Johnny come lately, since this was written in 2012, but im glad i stumbled across it. Already purchased next book. It maybe a teenager series but it's not cheesy with sparkling vampires with a moral compass. Ruthless and action packed but still compassionate were needed. Thanjs Mr Baum for your hard work.
